I think I'm officially switching to Scriviner. After years of struggling with Microsoft Word, WOW it really makes a difference! Just being able to break my documents into chapters and see the word counts is a huge improvement. I really should've switched to a better software sooner 😅

An excerpt from The Ironbark Wolves:

"The forest was silent—deathly silent.

Orez paused mid-chew, straining to listen. Somewhere in the distance, heavy steps fell. A slow, methodical rhythm. A crawl? No. No sounds of anything dragging. These were calculated steps.

Something prowled the woods.

Orez crouched among the brush. It was distant, but it was there. His ears could track the sound, traveling eastward. Though the thick darkness obscured all else, without the starlight to aid him. Whatever it was, he knew it was large, and nothing else. He could only stay low, hidden; a hand clutched onto his bow while he waited for dawn.

His racing heart kept him awake through the night. As the sun rose, he noticed the birds were absent, too. The air remained silent. Tense. There was an unmistakable shift when light pierced the canopy.

The footsteps drew closer."

An excerpt from my upcoming book The Ironbark Wolves:

Horace stared at Orez. He wore a forced calm, but the old hound’s eyes blazed in their sockets. And Orez held his snarl, refusing to look away. Their eyes locked.

The only sound was the low, gathering rumble, the storm brewing behind Horace’s teeth, a growl that made every elder duck their heads.

“Once I have heard from their leader, I will deal with this threat.” Horace lowered his ears. He bared every yellowed tooth. “Stand. Down.”

I think for The Ironbark Wolves, Orez would be considered a Rebel at the start, since he's in an active power struggle with his father trying to rule over the hounds. Then he shifts to *checks notes* Caretaker and eventually Ruler with a bit of Lover? He's a wolf of many pelts 😅 #LitHodgepodge

It's also good to keep in mind people can have really different tastes. I read a book the other day that I totally loved, and other people didn't because it wasn't very historically accurate. Not everyone that loved a story leaves a review, either.

As for WIP, I have plans to release the first book of my magnum opus next year (hopefully) and an aro/ace alien mecha book some time after that. I'm also currently working on the sequel to Winded Sails, The Blackwing Prince. Which will also probably be a full book at some point!
