That's terrific. And led me down a Discogs rabbithole, where I discovered that *this* was the artwork chosen for the Portuguese release...

Love the fact that in most places back then, rumours of a vampire in the neighbourhood would have had the local kids hiding in their bedrooms, while in the Gorbals, they were like: "Let's get tooled up and leather the cunt."

I know this may seem like a frivolous example given the context, but he was involved in the BBC's Eurovision coverage for years and could never be bothered to learn how to pronounce those silly foreign singers' names properly. This lack of natural curiosity doesn't surprise me at all.

Yup. We're doing the first two days but if the tickets had been half the price they are, we'd probably have said "sod it" and done the whole week. With a hotel, and a meal somewhere in the city every day, all good for the local economy. Instead we'll be watching the rest on telly in Peterborough...

You would never get the "£50 doesn't even buy a meal quote if the topic was the benefit system, then you would have a guy going "sack of potatoes and a carrot, and you can feed a child for a month at just 3.2 pence per meal"

What's wrong with the axe murderer who broke into my house is not that he hasn't successfully persuaded me to buy into his narrative. What's wrong is that he's trying to kill me with an axe. Similarly, when you launch a product that's designed to put millions of people out of work, block access to sources of verifiable truth, replace human creativity with slop, and lower the barriers to every sort of atrocity, the problem isn't that you haven't told the public a good story about those things. The problem is that you are trying to do them. (
There are things in the world that are more important than money. The fact that you seem not to believe this, that you seem to think any motive beyond ruthless acquisitiveness is fake, dishonest, or childish, is the heart of your problem. Your attitude is not by any means unique to tech, but the
