Today’s Friday night Pizza Pepper Pick is the 7-Pot Heatless, as the name implies it's a heatless variety of 7-Pot that looks almost identical to a Primo. It keeps the floral flavor of the hotter varieties, just with none of the capsaicin. Beautiful flavor and perfection on pizza!

If you love growing or eating Hatch chiles, you're already feeling the effects of anthropogenic climate change.
The New Mexico Chile Association has issued a supply update warning of chile shortages ranging from 20% to 50% across the board. The crop has faced challenging growing conditions, specifically due to unusually warm nighttime temperatures throughout the summer harvest season that left plants stressed and unable to produce an expected second harvest. The association is urging industry partners to communicate directly with suppliers regarding forecasts and inventory to help navigate these shortfalls.

This week’s pizza pepper pick is the Aji Fantasy. Crispy and fruity with a heat level around a jalapeño. Use it in stir fries, pickled, and of course as a pizza topping. We also use it in our Thai Salsa recipe! Available tomorrow, at Tuscaloosa River Market! #pizza #peppers #tuscaloosa #alabam

Did some sowing yesterday. This time I used potting soil in a 50 cell tray, planted the seeds and topped off with peat moss, a cheaper solution than using all seed start soil! These varieties usually sprout pretty easily, so we'll see how it goes.

Banana legs tomatoes, a funny name for a gorgeous tomato! They start out with green and light green stripes that fade as they ripen. They have dense flesh, with little seed pulp. A new fun one to grow, seeds from Alliance of Native Seed Keepers

When life gives you garlic scapes, garlic scape aioli! We grew garlic for the first time this year and let's just say lots of garlic recipes to come! I used about 8 scapes to a cup of mayo/Greek yogurt which may sound like a lot but the garlic flavor is much milder than a clove!

More pepper planning, as residential micro farmers we have to be intentional about varieties we want to include or not. We also consider our customers, not everyone wants the hottest or the most exotic, but we will always have a unique variety of peppers! spring plant sales begin in not too long.

Made some pozole rojo with our dried guajillo and pasilla chiles soaked, then blended with garlic to make a flavorful base mixed with chicken stock, spices, and pork. Got too hungry and didn't get a pic once the hominy was added 😁 we served it with some cabbage, serranos, and cilantro.
