When life gets you down... Striking Roman tombstone in the Grosvenor Museum, Chester, showing a mounted Roman soldier in chainmail trampling a native - who is clutching his shield 😞 An incredible collection of Roman tombstones on display here 👌 📷 My own

Map of Chester, 1653 Chester is the county town of #Cheshire & has been much researched. This wonderful map comes from "Fenwick's History of Chester" published in 1896. The Roman layout of the roads is still largely unchanged, many of the buildings survive, too. A great map! #MapMonday #Chester
A map printed in black on white paper shows the town plan of the old city of Chester. Across the top and down the left-hand side are many heraldic shields.

One of the most popular displays at Nantwich Museum is the Cheese Room. It’s believed that by 1600 local people were making cheese, with production in Cheshire peaking around the start of the 20th century. The exhibit includes a cheese vat, a cheese press & other cheesemaking equipment.
