I think it's time for the PWHL to revisit Pittsburgh on the Takeover Tour.

The first PWHL game on Hockey Night in Canada will feature the Montréal Victoire raising its championship banner. Former Victoire player Nicole Gosling will be watching from Hamilton's bench.

It says a lot when Owen Power, a first overall NHL draft pick in 2021, was not drafted at all in our 20 team fantasy league, with 25 players per roster. #FantasyHockey #BuffaloSabres

Imagine how confused Eric Schmitt would have been about the Rough Riders, and the Roughriders of the CFL during the 80s.

Some people are worried about the PWHL going head-to-head with the NHL on Saturday nights. They're concerned that the PWHL will get crushed in the TV ratings and that it will make the league look bad. I don't think that's the case. Many PWHL fans are not fans of the NHL. It'll be fine on #HNIC.

The irony is not lost on me that Hamilton will be one of the teams playing the very first PWHL game on Hockey Night in Canada. I say this because the NHL took the Hamilton Tigers away from that city in a very shady business move in 1925, and now the NHL was taken from CBC's HNIC. It's meant to be.

I too would love to see this theme used once again for the HNIC opening, for #PWHL games. I know some of you will ask "what about the original HNIC theme that TSN now owns?" To that I say that you just answered your own question. TSN owns it and they sure as heck won't be selling it.

Well, this answers my question of whether the PWHL would ever broadcast any games on the radio, specifically Montreal Victoire games. Great news! I've been listening to Habs games on the radio for years and now I can do the same with the Vickies.

030

Fantasy Sports Spot 🇨🇦 @fantasysportsspot.net · 28/09/2026

When it was announced that the NHL would no longer be shown on CBC's HNIC, I said it was a perfect opportunity for the network to swap it out for #PWHL games. Many people told me that would never happen. To those people, I say, go soak your heads. Because HNIC is back with PWHL games, baby!

030

Fantasy Sports Spot 🇨🇦 @fantasysportsspot.net · 28/09/2026

This is a huge win for the PWHL, just in terms of marketing alone. Young boys in Canada grew up watching HNIC for decades, dreaming of playing in the NHL. Now young girls will be able to do the same, with dreams of playing in the PWHL. It's a match made in heaven. I'll be watching opening night.

#PWHL | "Beyond airing eight Saturday games, CBC/Radio-Canada has acquired exclusive audio broadcast rights for all Victoire games in Canada during the 2026-27 season." #HNIC Does this mean that Victoire games will finally be on the radio?

"CBC’s Hockey Night in Canada is returning for a 90th season this fall after all. But instead of six-plus months of NHL action, the longest-running sports program in the world will air eight prime time Professional Women’s Hockey League games on Saturday nights, the CBC announced Monday morning."

I don't know how I feel about this. On the one hand, they could use it to easily display different team logos for arenas that are shared by more than one team -- The Montreal Victoire and the Laval Rocket, for example. On the other hand, it probably means video advertising during stoppages of play.

I'm seeing a few people say that the PWHL should allow the players to have the option of wearing visors instead of the full cage masks. Why? So they can suffer some of the horrific mouth and jaw injuries I've witnessed as a longtime watcher of NHL hockey? For what is completely preventable?

Just a suggestion, #PWHL: If you're going to make an announcement at the Hockey Hall of Fame related to your women's league, you should probably do it in front of the display in the HHOF that features women hockey players.

Not thrilled with this announcement. Does everything have to be country vs country? Don't we get enough of Canada vs USA in the Olympics, and the World Championships, AND the Rivalry Series? The WC tournament is happening just before the start of the PWHL season. Now the All-Star game too?

Reports are indicating that the game of the week would be on a Friday as opposed to Saturday. I'm assuming this would be to avoid competing with the NHL on Saturday night.
