Gonna share this small piece of good news to maintain my sanity. Ask your pediatrician for Beyfortus, or better yet get it in the hospital before discharge. It's a game changer. 👇

#CecileRichards wasn’t just a fierce advocate for reproductive rights – she was a beacon of hope for so many. I was so lucky to serve on the Planned Parenthood Board while she was president. To honor Cecile’s legacy, let’s keep fighting for the freedom and justice that everyone deserves.

Wait…so he admits a billionaire bought Twitter to influence the election? #MedSky
Vinay Prasad:
I remember when many in the mainstream media criticized his decision to buy Twitter for 44 billion. They called it a waste.
Looks like he's going to get the greatest return on investment by shaping the election and the fate of the 21st century.

Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield Won’t Pay for the Complete Duration of Anesthesia for Patients’ Surgical Procedures
In an unprecedented move, Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield plans representing Connecticut, New York and Missouri have unilaterally declared it will no longer pay for anesthesia care if the surgery or procedure goes beyond an arbitrary time limit, regardless of how long the surgical procedure takes. The American Society of Anesthesiologists calls on Anthem to reverse this proposal immediately.

Dr. Oz will likely expand Medicare Advantage, where commercial insurers provide coverage by contracting with Medicare.
Proponents of Medicare Advantage say the private plans offer more compelling services than the government and better manage the costs of care.
Critics note that Medicare Advantage plans have a long history of costing taxpayers more than the traditional program.

UnitedHealth, CVS, and Cigna are all substantial players in the Medicare Advantage market. It's not always a good relationship with the government.
The Department of Justice filed a 2017 complaint against UnitedHealth alleging the company used false information to inflate charges to the government. The case is ongoing.

AI outperforms doctors in multiple studies - and is often rated higher in empathy, too. Thoughts from #MedSky? www.nytimes.com/2024/11/17/h...
The chatbot, from the company OpenAI, scored an average of 90 percent when diagnosing a medical condition from a case report and explaining its reasoning. Doctors randomly assigned to use the chatbot got an average score of 76 percent. Those randomly assigned not to use it had an average score of 74 percent.

The study showed more than just the chatbot’s superior performance.

It unveiled doctors’ sometimes unwavering belief in a diagnosis they made, even when a chatbot potentially suggests a better one.
