My first book cover! 🐡🪶
A book cover for Birding for Life: How to Save Ourselves, Birds, and the Planet by LoraKim Joyner. The cover is a gouache painting of a Black Vulture preening a Crested Caracara, which they regularly do for some reason. They're both perched on a dead tree, with the caracara above the vulture with its wings spread. It's sunrise, and the sky is gold. Behind them are purplish hills.

Last one!! Finally done with #HourlyComicsDay! I’ll probably put together a masterpost of all of the comics and share that over on insta~
A four panel comic, beginning with the artist working on their iPad with a cat sitting nearby. “Lemme just do some quick sketches, then I’ll go to bed” says the artist. The second panel shows the comic sketches on the screen and a plush clodsire on the bed. Third panel says “three hours later” in the SpongeBob title card font. The last panel is the artist in the family guy death pose, laying in bed with their arms bent backwards and head turned away from the camera. Their cat and iPad are resting on top of them. The word “asleep!” Is written in the center. Thanks for following along!

The first panel shows the artist eating a croissant standing next to a small tabby cat. “Ate a choco croissant carefully so as to avoid my sore tooth. Have to chew on my left side only.” The second panel has the artist sitting in bed, working on their iPad and texting on their phone while thinking of pancakes. “Made plans for brunch tomorrow and worked on more hourlies.”A horizontal panel starting with the artist looking at their phone with a grimace and deflated expression, then progressively melting with a deep sigh as the background changes to gray storm clouds and rain, “Doomscrolled about the federal grant pause & the devastating impacts on my career as a queer scientist and science illustrator. I had applied for NSF funding for grad school, too. Siiiiiiiiigh.” The scene changes and the artist perks back up again with an expression of relief and hope as they put their earbuds in to listen to music as a photo of Lucy Dacus emerges from the clouds behind them. “Thank you, Lucy~”
