Hey Victoria, today is the final 3-ship day of the season. We host Explorer, Wonder, and suspected whale-killer and confirmed garbage scow NCL Joy. NCL filed documents estimating the amount of liquid & solid hazardous & non-haz wastes generated on Alaska cruises, offloading it in Victoria.

The statistics of how low-value cruise tourist spending is compared to high-value stay-over tourists matches the data from Victoria BC. A few businesses prosper, everyone else gets traffic, pollution, noise. Residents pay a big price for being a cruise port-of-call.

"Woken up again on a Sunday morning by PA system from the Holland America Zuiderdam. The air pollution & the water pollution from the cruise ships is bad enough but we should not have to tolerate the noise pollution as well." Tell the city what you think of cruise ships! seeclickfix.com/portland_2

A noise complaint to Portland city officials about the loud PA system on the cruise ships with a photo of the ship arriving in the harbor towering over rooftops.

“Woken up again on a Sunday morning by PA system from the Holland America Zuiderdam. The air pollution and the water pollution from the cruise ships is bad enough but we should not have to tolerate the noise pollution as well. Our cool nights in Portland should allow me to keep my windows open for a nice sea breeze but / have to close them to try to shut out the cruise ship noise. Even with my windows closed the early morning announcements in the PA woke me up. Please make noise reduction a condition of the cruise ships visiting Portland in addition to banning scrubber wash which is poisoning our coastal waters.”
