Last time we queried the salary for a "private librarian" it was unexpectedly generous, so do not low ball your pay expectations if applying! We'll email and see if the recruiter will share any more details.

I've just emailed my MP in support of British Library workers on strike over pay #BritishLibraryOnStrike As my own union ballots its members in response to a paltry pay offer of 1.4% (whilst inflation is at 4.5%), now is the time to stand together as #libraryworkers for #fairpay for the work we do.

The risible wages are well-known in the wider field of the library, museum, gallery and archive world. I’d like to think public opinion is with the people who make the place click day-in-day-out; they deserve better. Knowledge may be free but labour isn’t: spread the wealth and pay the workers!

On this - don't wait for your large central HR departments to catch up with this, libraries. Be the change you want to see and send out questions (or at the very least, themes) in advance. We had to badger HR for permission to do this but they did agree in the end!
