Slugcats have invaded Super Animal Royale. Our friends @pixilestudios.com and @animalroyale.com gave all the slugcats guns… and the ability to clone themselves. What could be more interesting than giving a wild animal a gun? They also gave them a sweet health juice beverage.

oooh that's so cool! I need to visit it again bc when I went I didn't have much time and had to rush a bit. In fact, I learned later they have a giant squid in a different section and I totally missed it! T_T please don't miss it

I had a year pass for the natural history museum to go draw stuff. I need to renew it

110

Erika @fainder.bsky.social · 16/08/2026

Oh right, now I can talk. Well, I see what you did there 👀

Erika @fainder.bsky.social · 30/07/2026

Thank you!! <3 I really really like stylizing creatures this way, I'm so glad it transpires!

Erika @fainder.bsky.social · 30/07/2026

Almost forgot I had all these bugs to show as well!

Green-tailed Sunbird for July’s #BirdWhisperer I keep using these for watercolor practice (I should just make more between each entry 😅) #birds #art #watercolour

(on my way here from IG) oh lovely!!

110

Erika @fainder.bsky.social · 27/07/2026

fingers crossed I can arrange it for then! I found out the con existed exactly when it moved out of London, lol. if it were still in London it would be easier 🥲 (Birmingham this year wasn't even too bad for travelling, but I had something else planned on that weekend)

010

Erika @fainder.bsky.social · 26/07/2026

Aaaah I want to go to dinocon just once in my life 😭 both this year and the last I wasn't able to 🥲 didn't catch that you had art there, more reasons to go T_T

Doing simple designs that are still quite faithful to the real animal is my favorite thing 😂

010

Erika @fainder.bsky.social · 15/07/2026

You can put them into an aquarium though! 😂

010

Erika @fainder.bsky.social · 15/07/2026

Ty!! That one was quite challenging to simplify!

010

Erika @fainder.bsky.social · 15/07/2026

Yeah Coelacanth is cool, I just... Didn't want to do all the same as animal crossing (at least not immediately, they got all the cool ones)

Erika @fainder.bsky.social · 15/07/2026

Most likely my favourite task at work lately was designing catchable fish (and bugs, which I will post another time) 😄

Meta: I’m sorry, you can’t advertise that post with the music you chose. We don’t have a license and want to be respectful. Also Meta: Would you like to speed run the destruction of Earth for an image of you as a Studio Ghibli character built from the stolen work of all artists who have ever lived?

I'm hopefully crawling out of the drawing rut that affected me these past weeks. Spent the long weekend in the Alps for a watercolor workshop. Plein air and landscapes are both very out of my comfort zone... it's been interesting and fun!

Eliza McLamb had an apt analogy abt modern fandoms: Fans no longer treat creators as creators. Fans treat creators like stock options they’ve invested in; like they’re part owners of a creator’s work just by *being fans*, and therefore get a say in what creators make/how they act. And it sucks.

It's the same in Verona (northeast Italy), the whole downtown is paved with countless ammonites, it's so cool! I just learnt looking up a picture it's called red ammonite marble (ammonitico rosso)

Shocked to see some artists saying that using ai slop as reference is ok. It's really fucking not. Not only are you still using the mashed-up uncredited work of the rest of us artists, but it degrades your whole visual library because it hallucinates. If you do this I do not respect you

A friend of mine did a machine learning project like ten years ago where they taught a program to detect invasive plants from drone images. We did not call it "AI", we called it machine learning. Calling it "AI" now is trying to legitimize chatbots and other bunk by roping them in with real science.
