Last night I was fortunate to have clear skies. The first full moon after the Autumnal Equinox is called the Harvest Moon. Here are my moonrise images as seen from Titusville, Florida on September 26.

A familiar story for anyone who follows @volts.wtf. “The Chronicle spoke to more than half a dozen grid experts…to try to understand why Texas’s notoriously unreliable grid had a remarkably reliable summer. The answer was unanimous: solar panels and batteries.”

Texas shattered energy demand records this summer. Here's why the grid held up.
Texas repeatedly broke electricity demand records this summer, but ERCOT avoided emergencies as booming solar and battery capacity helped keep the grid stable.

An early morning view of the city lights of and around Southern California. Pre-dawn sunlight is filtering through the atmosphere. The Moon and Jupiter are at the top right. In the foreground, a solar panel of the ISS crosses the picture. Green aurora is faintly visible at the left.

A silly cartoon of a Royal Canadian Mounted Policeman waving a tiny Canadian flag. The red of the flag’s maple leaf matches the red of the mountie’s uniform. The officer looks friendly, but Samantha knows not to get too close. She puts her sunglasses on and pulls her hoodie up before walking past. Samantha—or as she is known in Montreal, Séraphine—is well aware of Canada’s extradition treaties with the United States.
