stop making this a fanart vs. original debate. its a merch vs. books problem. also the onus is on the organizers! at manga ichiba we were required to bring our comic in physically at vendor check in. it’s that easy

Here's the official announcement of Parton's passing from her reps, along with the request that in lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made to Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library at www.imaginationlibrary.com

NASHVILLE, TN (August 25, 2026) – Global icon and humanitarian, Dolly Parton, known to the world as a beloved singer, songwriter, philanthropist, actress, playwright, and author died peacefully today in Nashville, Tennessee. She was 80 years old.

Dolly is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 59 years Carl Thomas Dean (1942 – 2025), her mother Avie Lee Caroline Owens (1923 – 2003), and father, Robert Lee Parton, Sr. (1921 – 2000).

A rhinestone life that shone bright enough for the world to see, Dolly will forever stand as an inspiration not only through her timeless music and prolific songwriting, but also her wit, warmth, and kindness that made us all feel like family. Dolly Parton’s legacy is one of love, compassion, and resilience. With a seven-decade career, she inspired multiple generations of artists and fans with her music and an unwavering commitment to making the world a better place. Her songs will continue to resonate with people of all ages, and her philanthropic work will have a lasting impact.

At Dolly’s request, a small, private service will be held for immediate family. Dolly’s fans and friends from around the world are encouraged to pay tribute to Dolly on social media by tagging @DollyParton or by leaving a message at www.dollyparton.com.

In lieu of flowers the family asks for donations to be made to Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library at www.imaginationlibrary.com.

one week left to apply. this is an excellent chance to try your hand at doujinshi - happening next to an established anime con (ALA) with a low, non-prohibitive table cost ($30), and rules around doujin-exclusivity! link: forms.gle/hhrb9Ffzs6bY1P… website: mmm.yaoi.city

reading emily wilson’s odyssey rn and ironically the way it’s written (simpler, plainer prose) makes it difficult for me to slow down. i caught myself almost skipping over a couple lines without processing anything. thought it was interesting how flowery writing helps keep my brain more awake

yes!! this! watching the movie made me reach out to my college professor who taught me the iliad, odyssey, and aeneid for the first time in 15 years. he told me that the entire western culture honors program had been completely dismantled 6 years ago right before covid 😭

9. By far my favorite thing in the film is Robert Pattinson's hilarious and sexy Antinous. If anyone ever wants to make a spin off TV series with Antinous risen from the dead to mess with other mythical households, I would be so there for it.

tbh it’s not even that fun of an action movie… it was never able to unclench except for antinuous’s scenes

back in my day, in the ffxiv community, if someone dropped a gdoc it wasn’t a TMI 100pg compilation of discord screenshots (public shaming masquerading as community awareness), it was a 10pg essay detailing a WOL’s complete lore - background, personality, relationships, abilities, etc!!!
