Sorry about any unfollows I ever do/have done but stuff about dads is hard for me. It's one of those things that has healed as much as it can & this is just where it is now I think.

Like an example of this is the Y'shtola & Matoya lines about her blindness. Aether is life force and aether is used to cast spells, so y'shtola using her life force to see makes sense based on how aether is described everywhere else in the story.

I think we should not try to read the "true" intentions of ffxiv's story and characterization in the Japanese script bc 1) if you are not from Japan and don't speak Japanese, you risk not understanding how two seemingly different lines could actually imply the same thing.

rough idea in my brain for something like a ffxiv fic read-a-thon... you try to read and comment on 14 fics in the course of a month. Something to encourage people to ask for/give recs, etc.

Thancred waters' gendered life is wild in a way I think people underestimate. This is the first womanizer that believes women are people but men aren't. Women have domestic lives and men don't. Women have futures and dreams and men can only imagine those futures and dreams.

It's both a really good tank design that brings a new vibe to the game and i'm disappointed bc the weapons are awkward (to me). I'm not that excited to play with it.

Having to break the rule for the last one (technically) but I did share it, only with 3 people over discord. Sometimes that is genuinely enough.

Flight of an Anorak 8 -
The words prove Wilfsunn wiser and kinder than he had known. Urianger fights to be calm. He nearly wins. But what is left can't be called reason, or reasonable. What whimpers out of him, finally, is pitiful surrender; "I want to go home."

Even the Dogs -
How eager he is to push aside all rough things to get at the softness within. Like shucking a clam. He used to slip them open with a dull knife on the docks to eat them raw, and Morrie kept the gulls away.

lambfic -
She doesn't remember what she has done wrong but understands that it must have happened. What's worse, she feels no remorse or disgust.

Flight of an Anorak 7 -
"It is Nymeia who guides us through knowledge's great ironies. She is the gate from which knowledge came; she stands between what can and cannot be known. This was the first lesson taught to man."

(unfinished daemon fic) -
The world was nothing but cages, one inside another, inside another, until it went all the way down into your heart, and the other way it went out, and out, and up, to the Light and perhaps further even than that.

only a 3-3 split for the conservatives on overturning the unambiguous letter-of-the-law in the US Constitution. "All persons born in the United States." 3 votes to overturn that on totally imaginary grounds. It's scary, not reassuring.
