This morning around 8:50 AM, Misael Ramos, Austin DSA-endorsed candidate for City Council District 1, was arrested by state troopers while walking his dog. His neighbors watched as troopers, many in unmarked vehicles, detained him wihtout ever showing a warrant. He is now being held at Travis County Jail on a misdemeanor charg that his campaign believes is tied to his participation in the protests after ICE agents shot Wilber Rafael Garces Perez, a delivery driver in North Austin, last weekend.

Speaking out for our immigrant neighbors is not a crime. Misael has always shown up for our community, and now we need to show up for him.
