i'm glad that at least the non-tourist side of the modding community has been pretty hostike towards it. i think most modding platforms have mandatory ai labels and filtering now. the modders with actual staying power are there for the love of the game so that won't be changing anytime soon

this is probably where LLMs lowering the skill floor hurts the most for me, because games are way more respected as an art form than code is; you could maybe argue nobody really cared about the craft of programming, but people definitely did for game mods because they were passionate about the games

when you are making a game, the goal is to convince the audience to suspend their disbelief. and your designs should not merely exist to "look cool", but actually communicate something about the nature of said creature or object, the sense of how it works and thus looks the way it does.

they basically thought "Oh the primordial is a flood guy so he should have the red thingies because thats a flood thing" without realising that it makes no sense, because the primordial is omnipitant and doesn't need feelers to coordinate himself. Hence why The Gravemind didn't have them in Halo 2

usually I prefer real history and weaponry being depicted in games, but with the case of Ace Combat, from what I have played of them, it is not only unnecessary but actively antithetical to the message of the series, to licence designs of planes from real manufacturers.

nothing can ever be subtle, nothing can ever be subtextual, the audience can never be expected to pay attention. characters need to loudly state everything they are thinking and feeling all the time. "I AM NOT A ROBOT I AM A PERSON". this line is pretty much in Halo 4.

I'm not totally sold on the art design in the new Ocarina of Time but there's some truth to this. The lack of vocabulary people seem to have for describing its style is a shame. I think we should generally refrain from insulting any human made art design as "AI" especially.
