I complain about passkeys being unwieldy and a great idea but the implementation is so frustrating it makes the hair on the back of my head stand up. A guy I don't know pops up and asks me for more info. First thing he says back is that I must have done something wrong in setting up my software.

A site asks you for a passkey and either: -It asks you to scan a qr code but you're on your computer -It doesn't find the passkey in Dashlane that you swear you have, you try the Apple option and it doesn't work either - Other failure modes I can't remember

Somehow between iOS, MacOS, and a password manager like Dashlane, it just flat out doesn't work half the time. You are sure you have set one up but then either the site doesn't find it or it asks you to scan from your phone with your phone...and there are no troubleshooting steps built in.
