I’m reveling in my new status as a PhD student without coursework. It’s so freeing to teach and not think about assignments and readings for 3 other courses. I have exams that I’ve been preparing for over the summer so I’m not completely free but this is nice 😊.

The people who rave about Akwaeke Emezi have excellent literary taste. I started reading their book, “You Made A Fool of Death with your Beauty” as part of sleep-prep and it was a bad idea because I ended up sleeping late. If you’ve never read their books, make an effort to fix that!

I have to cognitively pause when an American says food is spicy because to me, spicy means something else. To me, spicy simply means the meal contains a lot of spices. That doesn’t necessarily mean it’s peppery or hot — words I actually use instead of saying spicy.

I feel like my generation experienced Peak Internet and we’re now on a downward trend. Google Search sucks. You can’t trust Amazon ratings. Twitter & Reddit are at war with their users. Every useful news site is paywalled and every garbage one is free. Turns out 2010s were the good old days.
