Software developer/engineer/clown, annoys Go and Odin compilers to no end. Sometimes builds stuff that runs. Still uses Pascal, proudly.

WasmPascal can now be self-hosted. Find out how at github.com/ewaldhorn/wa.... All you need is a static server. Ideally something with the CORS config you need to run the worker threads. Or you could do what I do and host it offline via http-server. After all, local IS lekker 😂

nofuss.co.za/blog/wasm_pa... - Turns out that handling files in #webassembly in #pascal is not as simple as when running locally. Fortunately, it's not that difficult either. The trick is to let the browser do the work, whether it's input or output. As per usual, linear memory comes into play.

I finally managed to get wasmpascal to output a standalone archive, so you can distribute whatever you build with it easily. This is a #pascal clone of a popular DOS-era game. Made with nofuss.co.za/games/breako... and then exported as a standalone archive, served via a static http server.

This is just a bookmark for me - two years of learning, trying, failing and trying again and now I have a basic game running in the browser. Built on my Odin "engine" of sorts (github.com/ewaldhorn/ba...). Still tons of work ahead, but at least it's reasonably stable-ish now. Kinda.

The Odin programming language has been a lot of fun to explore over the past year or so. Along the way, I worked on a set of "books" to help me understand Odin a bit better, with a focus on the areas I'm interested in. nofuss.co.za/odin_and_me/ is the first of them - Hopefully it's of some help.
