Hilariously enough, I speak a bit more northern than I actually am!
A dialect map, indicating I speak mostly as if I'm from Albuquerque, New Mexico or Okie City, instead of coastal TexLa like I really am.

Update: Found it, it's 1990-05-30. "'Have cup of coffee, Jon.' Why, thanks, don't mind if I do." "Congratulations, Mr. Arbuckle, you are going to give birth to a fine, healthy litter of puppies." ("I hate puppies!")
The infamous Garfield strip. The dialogue is transcribed in the main post.

Post your lockscreen! Mild cheating to remove the "set up your voicemail" prompt and the sensitive information on the screen itself. (My phone is a Cat S62 Pro.)
The Caterpillar logo on a hexagon grate, on a black background. The text line that shows when the screen is locked has been set to read "information redacted".

Try two, since it corrupted the images last time. Yesterday, I drew @thoril.bsky.social as a sassy Southern sister. (The target was "butch fatale", but I kinda veered off-course quite a bit...) This was the longest I've used the drawing tablet in one sitting in the past three (!) years.
Thoril, a muntjac deer, stares smugly at the viewer. They are wearing a hoop earring, eyeliner (resulting in a long eyelash), eyeshadow, and a polo shirt.

Text beside them reads, in cursive, "Oh, honey... you really need to stop clicking on those 'free Robux' scams..."Thoril, a muntjac deer, paints their cloven hooves pink while talking on an old-fashioned telephone headset. They are wearing a hoop earring, eyeliner (which accentuates their eyelashes better), and a polo shirt.

Text beside them, also written in cursive, reads "Is that so. Well sweetheart, we can discuss how you DON'T need admin permissions when you put in a ticket.~ ...Of course, dearie."

Photographer challenge: post a photo you're extremely proud of. Sometimes a shot just happens to come together. I didn't even plan for this one, it just happened.

All too often people decide to park under the (raised) bucket of the telehandler at work. And all too often I secretly hope the hydraulics fail and the bucket comes down unexpectedly. But rarely as much as today.
A Chevrolet Corvette and a Nissan SUV are parked in a no-parking section of a parking garage (indicated by the paint), under the raised bucket of a telehandler.

Tonight's bored-at-work soldering iron doodle: @magmascalekobold.bsky.social as KausGammamon. Actually had fun doodling this. Pencil and soldering iron on thermal reactive paper.
A doodle on thermal-reactive paper, of a KausGammamon wearing a collar, screaming at something off the edge of the paper.

Digimoji (the "alphabet" of Digimon) below reads "Urda Impulse", which is one of the signature attacks of KausGammamon.

The tools used to create it are above the paper, consisting of a click eraser, a twist-tip mechanical pencil, a soldering iron with a narrow chisel tip loaded, and a (destroyed) bullet tip for said soldering iron off to the side.
A closer look at the doodle itself. Some of the lines are noticeably shaky.

Forest terminus. Stopped and took this on the way to work Tuesday. Sometimes you gotta stop and enjoy the little things. 📷 Nikon D3200 🗒️ 1/640 @ f/13, ISO-3200 (...for some reason, that's what the automatic ISO set.)
A photo of a T-junction. Behind three signs is a backdrop of forest, with a railway track barely visible. The tarmac is wet, and raindrops can be seen in the standing water.

The scene from the Brooklyn Nine-Nine episode "9 Days", where Rosa is holding a dog, except it's been edited to be Harsh, who is happily talking to someone who's been cropped out.

The captioning reads "This is Harsh, and if anything happened to them, I would kill everyone in this room and then myself."

Got bored in the tech shop, and doodled my take on a Zedconian helping someone get through something. Fanart for, and based on a couple of images by, @zoidsfan77.bsky.social Pencil and soldering iron on thermal-sensitive paper.
A soldering iron doodle on thermal paper. A Zedconian is looking left, with an exhausted expression. It is saying, "All we can do is keep moving forward. We're almost out of this."

Text printed on the left margin of the paper reads "INSERT THIS SIDE UP".The same doodle as before, but with the drawing implements around the top.

From left to right, there's a Papermate SharpWriter pencil, a Pentel Clic-Eraser, a soldering iron with a narrow chisel tip, and a bullet tip for the same soldering iron.

"I rejected those answers. Instead, I chose something different. I chose the impossible. I chose... Rapture. A city where the artist would not fear the censor, where the scientist would not be bound by petty morality, where the great would not be constrained by the small!" - Andrew Ryan, BioShock

Through the glass, parts of the large, underwater city of Rapture can be seen.

Okay. I can finally talk about it publicly... Yesterday, a project of mine which has been two years in the making(!) has finally come to fruition. I can now... - record from my computer onto VHS tape - record from the tape deck back onto my computer Two years! And it's finally done!
A screenshot of OBS' output preview. The quality is garbage, but that's what you get when you run a 1080p capture down to 480i and then back up to 1080p.

On the left side, the VCR's display shows that the VCR is stopped, near the start of the tape. The time display shows Sunday at 1:51 AM, and below that, the tape counter shows that it's up 3 seconds from the end of the tape.

Mine pretty much accurately reflects how I was raised. I'm not against trying something at least once, but a lot of stuff they showed... too rich for my blood.
A results page for the food choice test going around. The results skew heavily middle class, with a sharp drop off above that.

On 9th April, I was laying in bed trying to sort some miscellany out when I had an anxiety attack. I tried to ride it out, but it got a lot worse - so bad, I could physically FEEL the valves in my heart opening and closing. It was... weird and uncomfortable. (2/6)
A screenshot of a fitness tracker, showing a line graph of my heart rate on 9th April.

At roughly 05:45, there's a spike from about 60 beats per minute, up to 90, that was sustained for long enough that the heart rate tracking picked up on it. After that, the heart rate went back down to about 55 bpm for about twenty minutes before sinking to about 45-50 while I was asleep.

Stats below the graph show the asleep heart rate at about 47 bpm, and the maximum recorded heart rate at 112.

I found your work through Ink. New camera that came just before the pandemic plus meeting him just after; in 2021 I was eager to put it to use and he was a more-than-willing test subject.

Closest thing I have on my phone is Rummy...
A game of rummy, played on a phone in landscape mode. The discard pile shows a 6 of diamonds.

There is only one opponent, a computer player named "Nolan North". Nolan has melded a book (or a three-of-a-kind) of nines, a book of aces, and a 6-to-8 run (or straight) of hearts. This leaves 5 cards remaining in Nolan's hand.

It is the player's turn. The player has a 3-to-5 run of hearts, a 2-to-6 run of clubs, a book of tens and a book of aces.

All of the cards except a 2 of diamonds are selected, and the game is prompting the player to meld them. With the two of diamonds being the discard, the player is about to go gin (or meld all cards in their hand at once).

Last night, I finished what might be my final race of the year. It was a low turnout, and I got overtaken on the final lap, but I still managed P5 in the end, with a 0,17 second gap to P4. I'm improving my racecraft - this is the second battle for a position I've had! Ever!
