It’s been joyful seeing kids and families biking together this week, from Bike the Ridge to District 65’s Bike, Walk and Roll to School events. But safe routes to school shouldn’t be limited to special days. It should be a year-round option, through a connected citywide network of safe streets.

Since the opening of the Sheridan Rd project nearly a decade ago, Evanston has built almost no new dedicated bike infrastructure. With the new Bike Plan, a Safe Streets Ordinance, and a citywide coalition of supporters we hope to change that!

New Divvy stations are popping up across Evanston, like this one near the lakefront. We’re so excited to see more people have Divvy as an option for getting around town. Now, we just need better bicycle infrastructure to match.
