Do we think it’s a good or a bad sign when they have to check multiple boxes to indicate what’s wrong? That’s probably good, right?
A sign reading “DANGER UNSAFE STRUCTURE - NO TRESPASSING” in red, followed by “TRESPASSERS WILL BE PROSECUTED,” “STRUCTURE ADDRESS:” with obscured text, and “UNDER SECTION 37-7-9-3 INDIANA STATE STATUTE.” Below, checkboxes show “STRUCTURE,” “WIRING,” and “PLUMBING” marked, with “FOUNDATION,” “OTHER,” “HEATING,” and “DEMOLITION” unchecked; “INSPECTOR:” and “PHONE:” are obscured, and “DATE: 9/14/24” is handwritten. The sign is mounted behind a reflective surface with unclear background reflections.

I got an Instagram ad for a Temu kneeler, which is both the most Episcopalian thing that could happen and maybe also actual sacrilege
An advertisement for a wooden stool with a shelf and cushion. The stool is brown and has a foldable design. The shelf holds a book and a small box. The text reads "A Sturdy Wooden Stool Featuring A Shelf And Cushion, Ideal For..." and "Full Size Foldable." The Temu logo is visible in the top left corner.

Who precisely is the target market for Yahoo (the 1990s Internet portal)-branded GLP-1s? Why would one put something one bought on Yahoo into one’s body?

Remarkably, everything seems to work upon re-installation. Still needs some finishing touches but it’s a big upgrade from the rickety bookshelf that was holding it all up before. (Thanks to Tom Scott’s series on English counties for providing the test audio.)

This clip from @elizabetholdfield.bsky.social beautifully explains why the use of LLM technology as it stands is a grave spiritual harm. (P.S. Is there a bat signal to summon The Episcopal Church’s Task Force on Artificial Intelligence and Intellectual Property? Asking for a friend)

Good morning from St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Elko, Nev. and their “there are seven sacraments of the Church and don’t you forget it” altar and windows.
A religious altar with a crucifix and candles in front of a stone wall. The altar is covered with a green and white cloth with a floral pattern. There are two wooden benches on either side of the altar. The wall behind the altar is made of stone and has a wooden arch above it. The floor is covered with a red carpet. The text "WELCOME" is written on a mat in front of the altar.A stained glass window with three panels depicting religious symbols. The top panel shows a yellow shape above blue waves with the word "BAPTISM." The middle panel features crossed keys with the word "PENANCE." The bottom panel displays a red and blue flame with the word "CONFIRMATION." The window is set in a brick wall next to a wooden bench and a table with a white cloth.A stained glass window with three panels depicting religious symbols. The top panel shows a red stole with the word ORDINATION below it. The middle panel features a hand with hands below it joined, and the word MATRIMONY. The bottom panel shows an urn with the word UNCTION below it. The background is blue and white. The window is set in a brick wall. There is a candle holder and an open book nearby.

AI continues to provide super helpful answers
Screenshot of a Google search for "why would xi jinping flood my basement", a reference to the Maya Rudolph bit in the Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, that produced an AI overview result of: "Unless you are concerned about a very specific, global warming-related conspiracy, there is likely no reason he would do this. Clocking in for my shift at the emotional devastation factory
A television screen displays a close-up of a man's face with a serious expression. To the left, there is text that reads "max ORIGINAL THE PITT Season Finale Now Streaming TV-MA 2 Seasons Drama It's all been leading up to this. The season finale is here." Below this, a button says "Watch S2 E15." Further down, the section "Popular TV" shows thumbnails of other shows with labels "New Episode." Sure, you've felt shame, but have you ever felt the shame of Arby's sending you an email through DoorDash to thank you for your positive review of mozzarella sticks?
A light pink graphic with black and red text. The text reads "A message from Arby's" at the top, followed by the Arby's logo and a speech bubble icon. Below, it says "ARBY'S RESPONDED TO YOUR RECENT FEEDBACK" in large purple letters. To the right, "YOUR DOOR TO MORE" is in red. Further down, it reads "They wrote you this note:" followed by "Delighted you loved the Mozzarella Sticks, Evan, our most indulgent bite at Arby's. Your flavorful note means a lot.".

Today we sent people TO THE MOON! Me! You! Us! We the people funded a rocket ship to fling four people as far into the stars as any human being has ever been, something we could only do together. If we can do that, we can absolutely do daycare, healthcare, etc. It’s a matter of will, not can.
A white spacecraft with a black and gray top is inside a large circular structure with lights. The spacecraft has a round window and a black ring around it. The background is black with white specks resembling stars. In the top left corner, there is a black rectangle with white text that reads "ARTEMIS II LAUNCH" and "T+0:08:26" in white and pink text. In the top right corner, there is a white circle with a black outline and a white swoosh inside it, which is the NASA logo.

Surprising exactly no one, three Eastern theologians, John Wesley, and CS Lewis form my top 5 (and Calvin and Barth take dead last; sorry to all of my Princeton Seminary friends/acquaintances)
A webpage with a beige background and black text. At the top is a logo of three stars in orange, yellow, and red. Below the logo is the text "YOU ARE MOST LIKE Maximus the Confessor" in black. Underneath is "EASTERN ORTHODOX" in a red box and "c. 580 – 662 AD" in black. The main text discusses Maximus the Confessor's theological vision and beliefs. Below this is a section titled "YOUR THEOLOGICAL AFFINITIES" with a list of theologians and their associated points, represented by colored horizontal bars.

I won’t lie, I did tear up a bit seeing +Sarah’s name inscribed on the walls of Canterbury, the first woman in their 1500 years.
History was made at Canterbury Cathedral this afternoon when - following her Confirmation of Election at St Paul's as the first female Archbishop of Canterbury - Sarah Mullally's name was added to the plaque that lists every previous holder of the office, all the way back to 597 and the first Archbishop of Canterbury, St Augustine. Pictured here is Cathedral stonemason Benn, inscribing the plaque in St Augustine's Chapel.

In re: America
Meme reminiscent of the scene in Brooklyn 99 where Captain Holt says "Why is no one having fun? I specifically requested it", but the left panel is Duccio's Madonna and Child (Metropolitan) of Mary looking very annoyed while holding Jesus. The words over the left panel say "Why has no one sent the rich away empty?" The right panel is from Duccio's Madonna with Child and Six Angels, and features Mary looking at the viewer directly while still holding Jesus. The words over the right panel say "I specifically requested it"

The mobile lounges may not have worked out the way Eero wanted, but Dulles remains stunning. The dream of the 60s is alive in the Virginian Hinterlands of the DC metropolitan area
Exterior of Dulles Airport. It is a modern building with a curved roof and large windows illuminated at night. The entrance is centered with glass doors and steps leading up. The building's facade is concrete with a sleek, minimalist design. The road in front is empty, and the sky is dark.A group of people walking in an airport with blue walls and white ceilings. There are signs above restrooms that say "Restrooms" and "Telephones" with a blue arrow pointing to the right. There is a sign that says "Women" and another sign that says "Men." There is a sign that says "Visitor" and another sign that says "Water Fountain." There is a sign that says "Exit" and another sign that says "Metro." There is a sign that says "No Smoking." There is a sign that says "Fire Extinguisher." There is a sign that says "Camera."

It's so industrial their zoning map only bothers to color in the parts of the city that *aren't* industrial. The big chunk of residential in the middle is literally an uninhabitable Superfund site because they built a housing project and elementary school on top of an abandoned lead smelter
