I have sat on both black cats and they make the most pathetic mew sounds. I always feel so bad! Why do they choose camouflage??

Night dive with the locals in NJ We fought the current on the way out to have an easy ride back to the entrance/exit point. 73F, 60min dive 🤿🐙🦑🦀

Some fantastic conditions last weekend diving offshore in NJ. Easily 40 ft visibility, 72F at the top, 52 at 120ft. The jellyfish deco gauntlet on the way back up felt like a level from Mario Bros-i could've done with one of the invincible stars 🐙🦑🦀🐟🐠🤿
From 100ft looking up through the wreck, the rusty metal shipwreck recedes into the distant green water. Fishes are seen in silhouette against the brighter surfaceA view of the tie in attaching the dive boat to the wreck looking up.

The water is littered with stingy jellyfish, making for exciting decompression stops on the way back to the surface Some cold water anemones, swinging in the current attached to the rusty metal wreck A cluster of yellow and orange cold water anemones- some are open and filter feeding while others are closed.

It took social media by storm, but it didn’t work for all the reasons that ocean plastic pollution experts said it wouldn’t work all along. My latest for The Revelator tells this important story and asks what we can learn from it. Please enjoy. therevelator.org/why-ocean-cl...

Global problems are rarely solved by one person or invention. The Ocean Cleanup didn’t work, for the reasons experts said it wouldn’t. What can we learn from this?

Rail svc is tax subsidized by NJ taxpayers who will be actively blocked from using said rail svc on game days. Cost increase is to offset the tax subsidies in theory. bsky.app/profile/ev0l...

Or Deep Ellem in Dallas to Arlington. Sure technically possible, but it's not safe or smart.

ESG @ev0lemi.bsky.social · 01/06/2026
To be fair, that rail station is a DISASTER to use on Giants game days. It's easy enough to get there from NY penn, but i have been stranded at Metlife going back to NY Penn because they ran out of trains to go back to NYC. And that was for cold night games in November.

Totally agree! I didn't want this monstrosity. What a mess. If tourists on't like it, don't show up! Show them it's not successful and it won't happen again.

Could you walk from TD Garden to Foxboro? In the summer?
130
ESG @ev0lemi.bsky.social · 01/06/2026
Yes. And gos i would like to fix it all. But it's not fixable right now, honestly I'm worried about bigger things in this country than how walka le it is to MetLife, a place I actively avoid even though I like sports because it's both a pain to get to AND to leave.
130
ESG @ev0lemi.bsky.social · 01/06/2026
So if your daily NJ>NYC commute needs to happen on a game day, you may not be able to get to work or get home via the train you've paid for(monthly pass AND tax dollars).
030
ESG @ev0lemi.bsky.social · 01/06/2026
And neither NYC or FIFA are subsidizing the costs of the extra service so NJ taxpayers would be on the hook for extra service they cannot use. NYC Penn station will literally close to all service but world cup service on game days.
130
ESG @ev0lemi.bsky.social · 01/06/2026
The "jacked up" prices are in theory jacked up because of the extra service costs associated with the extra train service. NJT is heavily subsidized by NJ taxpayers. The extra train svf will run from NYC to Metlife and close stations for active daily NJ commuters.

Saw this guy from the parking lot. He was upside down and I was afraid he was dead but i went to flip him anyway Picked him up and he moved! Even better, he has a tag! Horseshoe crabs might look dangerous but they're completely harmless with no way to hurt you even if they wanted to 🦑🐙🦀

Locally, the common turns of phrase are, "Every dive is a deco dive" and "Prepare to self rescue" It scared me at first but learning how to plan for the worst makes the actual dives so much calmer.

Looks like the survivor wrote a book about this incident but I can't find much about it in the main trade pubs like InDepth magazine or even Divers Alert Network. I kinda think this "article" might be a book promotion piece.

This article is missing key details that a diver would normally want to know but it sounds like they weren't running a reel which is so critical for any sort of overhead environment, esp unexplored ones!

They've got an equally adorable teenage phase where they're shaped like adults, but still colored like juveniles.
