my take on the discourse regarding community spaces is you really don’t want to have meetings of more than three, maybe four people.

~10 years of fully legal trance revival and incredibly few new entries in the trance canon (maybe a sleep d song, maybe a mikkel rev song or two). not so easy is it?

if your album doesn't have thoughtful track transitions i know you don't really care

lorwyn strixhaven and reality fracture are a pretty tidy three set block. lorwyn and strix have a lot of mechanical overlap, as do reality fracture and strix. would probably be a fun draft format or cube.

there’s a huge category of music now that can fairly be described as post orchid tapes

sorry to nichepost but - i started with clive barker's imajica and have been working through his older work to find that imajica is heads and shoulders above everything else he's written, with the possible exception of abarat (which is young adult so, kind of its own thing).

twit discourse is awful. saw a bunch of tweets like 'there is literally 0 difference between soundcloud rips and lossless files' which is obviously crazy and then two days later i see the inciting incident was a promoter yelling at a great dj for playing mp3s. god.

seems trivial for open ai to set aside 10m of tokens and 10m of budget and give some agents the instruction of 'improve the community' and then show off what it does. kind of a no brainer from my pov. you can have humans approve the proposals or whatever.

this is especially rough for ed sheeran because everyone really wants to hate him but until now it’s been hard to justify

i'd like to see a daw that explicitly doesn't support plugins or samples. a daw that says 'this is exactly all you need to make music'. the electronic equivalent of guitar drums bass vocals, or a philharmonic orchestra. these are the tools, figure it out.

i can't bear to watch the chatgpt promo in full but the application of llms that makes the most sense to me is as an interface for computer control. obviously a computer can control a computer better than i can. i just have to be able to trust it (big) and it has to understand me (we are close)

strongly dislike the trend where 'website.com' is an advertisement for the website and 'app.website.com' is where the actual website is.

charming and somewhat underreported that thousands of people wait for bandcamp friday to buy tons of music not because its discounted but because more of the money goes to the artists. deeply sweet.

i cant think too much about what the incredibly well funded org with extensive well documented research on mind control, social manipulation, cultural manipulation has been doing for the last ~20 years with the internet.

I'm sure Bluesky hacked off most of that headline on mobile, so:

PC Gamer headline: "Dwarf Fortress creator says we can learn something from simply walling up dwarf nobles to maintain an equal society—but notes you have to abolish the dwarf cops, too: 'Another lesson to be had there'"

whats the deal with the ai gen fonts? there are a few, you see the rough white on black paintbrush looking extreme one a lot on the awful food / event posters. i assume they are somewhat hard coded in as a reaction to ai gen imagery's trouble with text.

the quality of music writing for major outlets can be easily explained by the adage 'you'd have to be an idiot to work in publishing today' (substack etc notwithstanding)

i dont hear tom leykis come up enough in context of manosphere incel stuff. my dad listened to him all the time in the car in the 90s and he had an identical schtick to the current gen of hucksters.

i cynically enjoy the current cycle of making every single product recall national news because of the handful of serious and significant ones caused by deregulation. fuck it.
