iiinova — where your digital self keeps evolving

actually i might give calvin harris one for miracle.

001

~10 years of fully legal trance revival and incredibly few new entries in the trance canon (maybe a sleep d song, maybe a mikkel rev song or two). not so easy is it?

100

if your album doesn't have thoughtful track transitions i know you don't really care

000

lorwyn strixhaven and reality fracture are a pretty tidy three set block. lorwyn and strix have a lot of mechanical overlap, as do reality fracture and strix. would probably be a fun draft format or cube.

i hear that electronic tinged bedroom melancholy that they specialized in all over the place. i was listening to ear - rumspringa but im also thinking of motion ward and a broader crop of heart aching delicate electronic / guitar music. it was wild when i realized khotin used to be on orchid tapes.

110

currently listening to the excellent ear album

000

there’s a huge category of music now that can fairly be described as post orchid tapes

200

This standing on the corner album is like pre canonized. Insane

000

that is true for sure. i just compare my experience of reading Gibson’s sprawl to my experience of any cyberpunk movie and for me there’s no comparison, immersion-wise at least.

000

i find books more immersive. subjectivity is even more inherent and books are happening to you in a way i don’t find in other mediums. a very fun topic somewhat wasted on social media, would be rich in real time.

120

at this point if a show is in a live nation / axs venue i’m simply not going

000

couldn't disagree more. intention is completely irrelevant.

000

there are a lot of problems with music crit these days but 'the critics listen to the music and come up with their own ideas instead of asking the artist to explain' is absolutely not one of them

010

are we seriously re-litigating death of the author theory in media criticism in 2026? i agree its not a dubstep track but not because the producer says so lol

210

it kind of explains why it seems relatively under-read. if i read weaveworld first i dont think i would have signed up for another fantasy epic from barker (though i quite like weaveworld)

000

sorry to nichepost but - i started with clive barker's imajica and have been working through his older work to find that imajica is heads and shoulders above everything else he's written, with the possible exception of abarat (which is young adult so, kind of its own thing).

100

what do they call it now, visibility engineering? horrible stuff.

030

twit discourse is awful. saw a bunch of tweets like 'there is literally 0 difference between soundcloud rips and lossless files' which is obviously crazy and then two days later i see the inciting incident was a promoter yelling at a great dj for playing mp3s. god.

difficult to overstate the breadth of this rabbit hole. not just musically

it feels great. we have been waiting so long.

kind of hard to explain but extremely funny that in most cases upgrading to a wifi 7 router will make your wifi much worse unless you turn off all the new features

the antipathy for the chill goofs from california makes less sense every passing day.
