Is it just the way my childish brain works or does this travel advert need better kerning on the font?
TV advert for holidays in Turkiye with a slogan saying “a piece of art” but the spacing of letters makes the last word look a bit like “fart”. Highbrow, I know…

What better to do on a Sunday afternoon than watch Tom Scott and chums record a live episode of Lateral Podcast?

Adam’s European tour arrives in Cologne, Germany, where there’s a small little videogame convention going on. I’m sure I can see the whole thing in half a day, right?

My first time in the Swiss city of Winterthur, famed for being one of the locations in season 9 of YouTube show Jet Lag the Game. But no time to hide in the woods - it’s 10:30am and I need to be on the other side of the country in 3 hours, so I’ve got to go go go…
Winterthur rail station map showing the location of platforms, toilets, etcView of what seems to be a small allotment for townsfolk to grow flowers or vegetables. In the foreground is a small garden shed next to some tall sunflowers and a pole flying a Swiss flag l. In the background are a large number of trees.

Made it across the Polish border too late last night to do any sightseeing, so my planned half-day trip to Brno, Czechia had to be condensed into a 60 minute speed round…

Spent Monday afternoon wandering around in Krakow. Lots of important historical and cultural sights, of course…

No, you got the wrong protein supplier. This is KF…D.

Definitely doesn’t seem the kind of weather for a flamethrower at the end of every race. Another reason not to be drawn in lane one!
The finish of the men’s 100 metres viewed from face in angle, with a flamethrower firing just as the athletes cross the line.

Well that was worth the trip already! Keely breaking the world lead in her first race of the season 🥳

My clothes have barely dried from last week’s trip, but I’m on my travels again. This time (predictably) it’s to watch some Diamond League athletics in Poland.

August. The peak of the Great British summer, and in a year where June and July were gloriously warm and dry. What better time to gallivant around the English southwest for a week? I’m sure the weather gods will be kind… Oh wait ☔️
Weather radar of the U.K. showing heavy rain around my exact location right now. Typical!

Beginning a month of random travelling with (what else?) the British Championship athletics. I wasn’t expecting bright blue skies in Birmingham though!
Scene from the stands at the Alexander Stadium Birmingham. Barely a cloud in the bright blue sky, much better weather than was forecast!

@singmaraoke.bsky.social excellent show as always last night. By the way, did you know about this error on the merch page?

Another day, another athletics meet. You know it’s a blustery day when the windsock blows away just as one of the decathletes is attempting their pole vault!
Action shot of decathlete Lewis Church running down the pole vault run up. In the background is a windsock almost fully extended to show there are strong winds today.

Ah, Rome. The eternal city. So of course I’ve ignored the colosseum, Trevi fountain and Sistine Chapel and gone straight to the athletics stadium for the first European Diamond League meet of the year 🤓

One Of The Greatest Games Critics Of All Time Has Died

Reading Amiga Power magazine in the 1990s was my number one inspiration for wanting to get into the games industry, and J Nash was my favourite writer. I shall raise a glass of F-Max in his honour.

Important warning to all 1990s yuppies…
Information sign stating “do not use portable telephones”, including the standard red circle with a diagonal line striking through the image. However, the illustration of a “portable telephones” used in the image looks like a brick phone with extendable aerial from at least thirty years ago.

The influx of people here the past few days brings back pleasant memories of that week in early 2009 where much of the UK was stuck at home due to snow, and seemingly everyone in Britain decided to join Twitter simultaneously to make random whimsical small talk and dad jokes.
