I guess when it really comes down to it all, you could really just think “Keep on truckin’ ” and that sums everything up perfectly- for yourself and even for those naysayers out there. Hopefully their inner explorers can come back out and see what’s new too.

I’m not really sure why the overly pragmatic or the nay sayers decide it’s their duty to call out the explorers in ourselves. Maybe it’s because the explorer inside them got squashed at some point. And that sucks.

If I listened to those nay sayers, I’d never have continued to draw, play bass, join a band, be a part of a council, or anything really.

In my experience, there’s always that one person who nay says you when you try something for the first time. The trick is to ignore that person and keep going.

I hadn’t even thought of how he treats male characters. He either treats them as threats or he kowtows to those he thinks are “cool”- he’s fine with Oz and Riley for instance (don’t get me started on Riley’s treatment of Buffy).

That being said, I also attribute that to Whedon and his treatment of female characters. Tara’s and Cordelia’s treatments especially.

Yeah. His relationship with Anya is painful. Even before it went public about his life, the way his character treated her made me cringe. The last line he says about her is like he’s talking about a pinup instead of a person.
