Ended up experimenting with these stands more over time and learned about threaded inserts. Attaching the Wacom pen tray to the wood directly wore down the threads of the hole in the wood. Threaded inserts made for a much more secure fit. Also made one out of a panel from the local art store!

One of those & an arm rest are the main things that make screen tablet use ergonomically viable, personally speaking! If they made one of those arm rests with 3 points of articulation it would also be a permanent fixture on the slanted traditional art workstation. Might have to slap one together...

Had to learn that lesson the hard way over the years. Pretty much swear by kneeling chairs now, or standing on an anti-fatigue mat with a raised workspace, or a hard straight chair if those are unavailable. You get a little cushion on kneeling chairs but its mostly a block of wood.

The Movink line is compatible with other tablet and phone Wacom EMR styli, including ones with eraser tips. They don't have the fidelity of the Pro Pen 3 but work well enough.

Practical instructions on how to draw an ellipse with a string, pins and L square, via ThisisCarpentry.com. Each written instruction includes a diagram showing what the process looks like at each step. The diagram is being used as an example of why one can use a Diamond shape to quickly center written text in an elliptical speech bubble.
Written steps are as follows:
Step 1: Using a straight edge, draw the desired length of the ellipse's Major Axis.
Step 2: Use a square to draw the Minor Axis. It should be perpendicular to the Major Axis and pass through the center point.
Step 3: Locate focal points 1 and 2 by using half the length of the Major Axis to measure from point C back to the Major Axis.
Step 4: Set pins (nails/screws) at points: 1, 2, and C. Then tightly stretch a string around the three points and tie the ends together.
Step 5: Keeping the string's length set, remove the pin from point C and use the string as a guide to draw the ellipse.

When drawing on paper or with rudimentary tools, a quick diamond shape is a good way to center text that needs to fit inside an elliptical shape at the very least. A shame Sai2 lacks the tools to do it more easily than that, though.

Used to use large, seedless grapes as a teaching tool to help beginner artists learn to assume and ease the tightness of their tripod grip. The idea was to use the tool without crushing the grape, and the visual was effective even as just a memory aid!

Making drawing boards and stands has been a long running personal project. The latest is an acrylic panel with a Huion VESA kickstand & a Wacom pen tray fastened onto part of a photo frame. The result is comfy & can be used in bed. Slightly too tall for a 17" laptop bag, however. One of many tries.

A previous tablet stand, originally meant for iPads, modified for use with an Android tablet with a different aspect ratio. The stand is a bamboo drawing board with a hole meant to keep the drawing surface flush with the board for comfort. There are two small panels of wood fastened to the board with screws, providing an A5 sized working area.

Yes, usually transparent plastic rulers that don't get used for other purposes. In particular, groove rulers and groove pull rods are nice for drawing lines that are parallel to a particular point in a drawing, and can be used when the goal is to avoid dragging the ruler across the display.

Had a Wacom Graphire of similar vintage, given as a gift from another student that casually had one around at the time. It had serial and PS/2 ports on it if memory serves -- Had no idea it was possible to draw on a computer before that, so getting one randomly felt like unlimited power at the time!

Personally, using programs like KORG DS-10 and other software containing the equivalent to FL's step sequencer/piano roll allowed for smaller scale practicing, and that helped make figuring out musical patterns more comfortable. You can bring that skill back to FL, etc.
