Drawings from the last stream, celebrating the Philly Nude Bike ride that passed by yesterday. These are from a separate A5 660 page book made for practicing "direct drawing" in ballpoint pen with the hopes of improving at drawing improvisation. Ballpoint has proven to be easier to show on camera.

A sketchbook spread with ballpoint sketches of nude bike riders and notes from the artist. The masculine rider, Persimmon is a short but muscular lesser demon with a barrel chest and short limbs. He has a beard with no mustache and is celebrating on his seat, waving to an unseen audience as his cape billows in the wind. The feminine rider is HB, an anthropomorphic snail drawn with a notably fatter body than usual, with multiple shots of her on crudely drawn bikes mid pedal stroke.
The artist comments on the local nude bike ride and expresses interest in the higher number of black participants than expected, with a drawing of his mascot giving a thumbs up and giving "black guy approval".

A sketchbook spread with nude drawings of @inkjelly.art's gallery mascot HB the Snail and her boyfriend, Basic Bear. These drawings show HB, an anthropomorphic, feminine snail, casually eating what appears to be a snack bag labeled "rat poison". Basic, a muscular, masculine bear, is voicing his disapproval. A fun fact about snails reads "Snails love to eat rat poison" above a drawing of HB with a much fatter figure winking at the audience. More drawings imagine a BBW style HB, nude and glowing, with large sagging breasts. Along with fat HB are some bulked up Basics, showing a bodybuilder's physique wth extra fat, a double chin and more pronounced belly. Two drawings show each reacting to the other's fatter body with affection and lust, and two others show them at the gym. Basic is using a pec deck machine to do chest flys and HB is doing pushups, with Basic watching her form. They work out together.

The strategy used for the current A5 sketchbook in progress to stave off fear of the blank page was to draw studies for improvement in the front of the book while drawing character artwork in the back. These are the first 8 pages of sketches in this book. This strategy fills out the book fast!

An open sketchbook showing practice drawings of hands on the left page and bodies without limbs on the right page. The left page's hand drawings are done quickly from observation in ballpoint ink. The hands overlap each other with diamond shaped lattices surrounding each hand, which the artist used to practice positioning each drawing with precision, keeping each diamond from touching another. The right page shows construction sketches of bodies without legs, showing how the hip connects to the ribs to form the trunk. The abdomen and obliques are marked with numbers 5 and 6 respectively, with 7 used to mark the spinal erectors where they are visible. The artist observes that the obliques and abs form an ice-cream-sandwich construction from most angles, with the spinal erectors forming the filling when shown from behind. Several figures also sit inside diamond shaped envelope shapes for the same positioning guidance as the hands on the left page.

Selected pages from the A5 book. Part of the work of this book happens when writing the alt text for its pages. A fringe benefit of doing this for the anatomy study portion (not shown here) is being forced to summarize what was learned in each session. Still learning how much detail is appropriate.

An open sketchbook, with rough layout drawings of two gendered variants of a normally non-gendered imp, Pok. Both pages are dominated by sketches of the feminine Pok. She is standing erect, legs spread wide, chest thrust high, and maniacally laughing. She is short, about three heads tall in one of the test drawings, with huge pointed ears like a bat’s, fluffy straight hair in single messy bang that normally peeks out of an oversized brimmed fool’s cap. She has the classic “shortstack” figure.
Contrasting with the feminine Pok, one drawing of her masculine counterpart show a taller, skinnier and more top heavy imp standing almost four heads tall. He has the same fluffy tuft of hair escaping a helmet with huge horns, with a ram like silhouette at the top of his head. His shoulders, arms and hands are bigger, wider and more defined than his bird chest, small hips, spindly long legs and thin neck. He wears a body suit with concentric circle motifs on the chest and shoulders, ending with a rolled turtleneck collar at the top and knee high steel-toed work boots at the bottom. He has a long tail that ends in a US style electrical plug. He is standing in a defiant and somewhat aggressive pose, as if provoking an attacker to approach.
Surrounding this one successful drawing are many abandoned, partially erased drawings of the same masculine Pok standing in a hunched over, shifty eyed pose looking at the viewer from behind him. Annotations mark drawings to pursue or abandon, with one hasty note showcasing opposing directions to orient the pointy features of both Pok variants. Fem Pok has ears that point up and hair that points down, where Masc Pok’s does the opposite. Peppered throughout the left page are headshots of the default, non-gendered Pok, showing an imp wearing a mushroom shaped cap, and in one case a similar cap flattened in a military beret shape.

A spread of two pages of gift sketches. On the left page, studiotrue.bsky.com's characters, a fan Reploid Pico and an anthropomorphic mink whose name wasn't provided. Pico is a feminine gynoid with a Megaman X style body plan, and she is hinged at the hip in a flirty pose. She is drawn to make it clear she is a black woman.
The mink character has a Sonic the Hedgehog style facial construction, with a rubenesque figure. She has a ponytail as wide as her head at shoulder length and a large, fluffy bang as well as an even larger fluffy tail, about the length of her body. She is flashing a toothy grin at an unseen subject to her right, briefly lowering her smartphone to look.
On the right page, multiple rejected sketches of ghostgribht.bsky.social's Markus Mallard, a muscular anthropomorphic duck. The page is filled with unsuccessful sketches of Markus’s head and torso. They should evoke the huge frame of Street Fighter 3’s Alex Winger combined with the simplified long head and neck of a duck combined in a rectangular shape with a beak. The figures instead lack proper structure, making Markus look too long or too thin.
