I've been expecting this ever since the Iran quagmire started, and I'm only surprised this didn't happen long ago. It's an obvious deflection strategy for the Trump admin. Despicable, of course, but that's par for the course with Trump.

"Russians who crave revenge for invented causes and revel in propaganda are complicit in all the killings, violence, and war crimes committed by our worthless, blood-soaked state." A Russian woman explains why Russia’s imperial ambitions are destroying the country from within.

There's something darkly ironic about how the 2015 era Russian propaganda push to obfuscate their involvement in the War in Donbas was arguably too effective on western audiences because it's 2026 and people still trot out this talking point despite the Russians not even bothering to push it anymore

KASPAROV: Why can't NATO shoot down Russian missiles over Ukrainian territory? When Iran attacked Israel, the Americans, French, British shot down Iranian missiles. Why can one shoot down Iranian missiles flying at Israel but cannot shoot down Russian missiles flying at Ukraine?

Didn't a certain chancellor mention he'd send them unless we stopped killing civilians? And seeing as we didnt stop and he didnt send them, he signalled that he does not care.

🤬 Kherson. A Russian drone operator hunts down a civilian fruit seller and attacks him. The Russian with the remote control knows and sees what he is doing. They write that he survived.

Another reason could be to stop us sending Patriots because we would need them ourselves. They don't even have to let it happen many times for certain voices here to begin singing that song.

I've been speculating if the entire Fedorov thing is a ploy to create a very public popularity contest between Syrskyi and Fedorov to create conditions to replace S. Very much speculation and no basis in any particular insight save that Zelenskiy must have known how unpopular his decision would be.

OTD in 2014, MH17 shot itself down with a BUK system the "rebels" suddenly denied they had admitted having. Here's a history of our MH17 propaganda that shows we don't do it so you believe something. We do it so you believe nothing. And more importantly, do nothing It works

Is this translated from the original German? www.whitehouse.gov/releases/202...
Homeland Security Advisor Stephen Miller made clear there must be no retreat: “One of the hallmarks of left-wing violence and terrorism is its completely pre-textual and disingenuous appeal to civil liberties in an effort to shield its own violence… When the leftist — who does not believe in freedom, who does not believe in civil rights, who does not believe in any ordinary notion of justice — protests that we are violating his rights, understand the he is lying to try to persuade people who are not closely following the political scene that some injustice has perpetrated against him. We must stay the course and be completely unflinching in the pursuit of justice against these enemies of civilization.”

Zelenskiy has either made a utterly stupid decision, or he's risking a public popularity contest between Fedorov and Syrskyi to create leverage to remove Syrskyi. At the very least, the crowds here in Kyiv are clear: I heard chants of "No Syrskyi!" alongside various chants in favour of Fedorov.

Having just spent 19 hours on the train from Warsaw to Kyiv, I can confirm getting here has become significantly harder than it used to be. However, I can also confirm that it's still very much worth the trip. Sadly no dogs on my journey here. I'm going to have to complain to someone about that ;)

As a Dane who loves and supports Ukraine, this has long been a horrible embarrassment. The company hides behind legal arguments, but they're utterly bankrupt morally. Politicians have condemned them on moral grounds repeatedly, but they have yet to find the legal basis to punish them effectively.

I was convinced already after Maidan. As I told a friend back then: Look what Ukrainians are capable of doing, the level of organisation in a civil society under pressure, and imagine what they can accomplish under honest leadership. You are an amazing people and an inspiration to all.

ICE are violent and stupid by design. Their role is to provoke a confrontation, not just with civilians but also and especially with local law enforcement and politicians. Then Trump will declare a state of insurrection in the states most opposed to him and exclude them from voting. Hope I'm wrong.

I was fully expecting this to happen sooner or later, but the shock is surprisingly visceral. The US as seen from Europe has slid very far down the fascism slope already. ICE are Trump's "brown-shirts", and the FBI is turning into the Gestapo. The Hegseth army seems to be aiming to become the SS.

Meanwhile Ukraine has increased their unmanned systems capabilities and honed their strategy to the point where they're killing/immobilising almost as many invaders as russia can replenish on a monthly basis, as well as increasing their strategic bombing campaign. Because actions, not words, matter.

Russians sunk several barges at the entrance of their naval port pier in Novorossiysk, so that no other Ukrainian drone can enter it. This also confines the remnants of the Russian Black Sea Fleet to this little basin. Russians literally barricaded themselves. Embarrassing..

If Europe doesn't manage to achieve consensus on taking Ru's frozen assets and giving them to Ukraine, then its strategic, moral, and self-preservation instincts are weaker than I thought. I'm a big believer in the European project, but failure here will be a bad sign for its future.

Only an immediate ceasefire is progress. The discussion in Moscow today was useless noise. Ru continues its aggression.
