Loved listening to you on Beyond the Zero during my afternoon walk. Thank you for the shout-out. Husband is currently reading my copy of your book because my brain is fried, and I want to be in the right headspace to enjoy it. 😉

This has made my night. Not only did NancyKay pre-order to the US and sent me a pic of the book looking out over the Chelsea neighbourhood of Manhattan (!!!!) , she came to my London gig at the start of a UK trip, straight off the plane that morning; so this is a lovely way to bring it full circle.

With Erin Vincent’s astonishing Fourteen Ways of Looking (@erinvincent.bsky.social @deepvellum.bsky.social) still echoing in my mind, I open the book by Marguerite Duras at page fourteen: “It’s the call that is hurled down the abyss”
Page fourteen of Marguerite Duras, Six Films (Le Navire Night), translated by Olivia Baes and Emma Ramadan:

— The people who cry at night into the abyss all set meetings. These meetings never end in encounters. They’re just set.
— It's the call that is hurled down the abyss, the cry, which unleashes the orgasm.
— It’s the other cry. The response.
— Someone cries. Someone responds that they ve heard the cry, that they're responding to it.
It's this response that sets off the agony.
— You say that you remember this man who shouted at dawn.
