Don't get to teach Shakespeare much anymore but I always liked talking through the "most of the members of the Wu-Tang Clan have a more varied vocab than Shakespeare" chart with students who assumed artists today are more limited. No way you get this distribution without rappers who read widely.
A chart from https://pudding.cool/2017/02/vocabulary/index.html showing a distribution of the number of unique words used by individual rap lyricists compared to Shakespeare and Herman Melville

there are talented republican politicians out there but GOP primaries reward the cranks and kooks and punishes basically anyone interested in governing. not for nothing that to get Youngkin in ‘21, the VA GOP had to cut out as many voters as possible.

Put my mail ballot in the mailbox today. It’s a postal holiday but I’ll check the online ballot tracker in a day or so to see if it’s arrived. Returning it early means I’ll be off the list of folks with outstanding ballots and the volunteers who call to remind us won’t have to worry about me.

It’s sunny and warm in Pittsburgh. On my way home from the south side I declined sitting in traffic to get on 376 E and was treated to a lovely drive through Schenley and Frick. I got to drive under the new bridge for the first time! And I found a cute area of Swissvale. So great.

Here's what to know if you're unsure about your measles immunity status
Vaccination is the best way to protect yourself against measles. For most adults, one shot of the MMR is considered enough protection. But there are certain situations that call for a second dose.

This is a moral atrocity and it needs to be loudly condemned as such. There is a reason that democracies *don't* do publicly televised executions (and why many don't execute people at all): it inculcates and rewards bloodthirst, which corrupts the spirit and corrodes the foundation of the polity.
