I think so. It's more like a detective + small town mystery show where you're occasionally reminded there are sci-fi elements once or twice an episode. It has True Detective, Ozark, and Watchmen vibes. Since they have folks from those projects.

Happy Lanterns season finale to all who celebrate. We're at T-minus 23 minutes. Woo-boy.

Playing in a new D&D campaign tomorrow! Hyped! I've written quite a backstory for this character. I'm excited to get my role-play on.

Did I make another top 9 because I *felt bad* I left out some games? Yes, yes, I did. PS: Wait, I forgot StarCraft and Warcraft.... Nooooo!

Erik "Faelor" Shafer @erikshafer.bsky.social · 29/09/2026

Yesssss to all of the above!! I think UMK3 was the peak of my MK obsession. 😂 Killer Instinct had all bangers!

010

Erik "Faelor" Shafer @erikshafer.bsky.social · 28/09/2026

I can't believe I'm still thinking of games I didn't think about earlier. Fffff

000

Erik "Faelor" Shafer @erikshafer.bsky.social · 28/09/2026

FFS I didn't include a Zelda. Goddamnit.

010

Erik "Faelor" Shafer @erikshafer.bsky.social · 28/09/2026

Like, I probably shoulda picked MK (1) instead of 2, but the sequel had far more of an impact. Damnit. There are no right options! Also, I played Street Fighter 2 (Turbo: Hyper Fighting edition) on a legit Super Famicom brought over from Japan before I ever played SF at the arcade or on an SNES. 🤣

Maybe @manalessmarlee.bsky.social can tell me I'm wrong or something. WHERE'S MARIO KART?!

Erik "Faelor" Shafer @erikshafer.bsky.social · 28/09/2026

There are so many other games I had to choose *not* to include, but I think these are the nine most *impactful* that shaped my gaming tastes, inside jokes, genre preferences, musical tastes, childhood + friendships, etc.

I cannot recall the last time I used a traditional aggregate root, in any language, but when I'm in .NET I use Marten (and Wolverine!) to help make my code easier to read, maintain, and evolve.

'm still very happy that my lil side project mmoreconnect.com had hundreds of people sign up before EverQuest Legends came out. I've been taking steps to get it ready for whatever version of "WoW Classic+" ends up being revealed tomorrow at #BlizzCon. Soon™️.

Can't say too much, but I was on the #MTGZhalfir team for a really, really long time, including the Vision team. It's easily the most rewarding thing I've worked on at Wizards and can't wait for the world to see it. #WOTCstaff

Oh hey, the side-project I kept toying with for nearly a decade just launched. If you play or played MMORPGs such as EverQuest, World of Warcraft, Vanguard, Guild Wars, Rift, Ultima Online, or other classics, you should check it out. :) PS: Only EQ and WoW are up at the moment! More coming soon.
