This was in the context of why I voted in support of Workers Drive Minneapolis, our autonomous vehicles regulations ordinance. We can’t just keep rolling over for Big Tech and not learn from what’s happened with rideshare, social media, & AI. Read more ⬇️ content.govdelivery.com/bulletins/gd...

The house that has Demuth, Tafoya, and Folk signs out on a heavily traveled corridor through the part of the city with the lowest 2024 Trump vote percentage is doing a great service for anyone who's unsure who not to vote for in the HCA race.

During the ICE surge, Lisa Demuth signed a letter thanking ICE and praising Kristi Noem for her "steady leadership."

I think that makes for three of the racist flag on just that block. Interesting.

An earlier merge would definitely be better. There's no way it should be happening right before that crosswalk.

Ouch, and right where people already merge aggresively too

Our four big local TV news operations are now owned by Paramount Skydance, Fox, Hubbard, and Nexstar. Not great!

Eric Prindle @ericprindle.bsky.social · 29/09/2026
Their parent company got bought by Nexstar, which is politically conservative. A judge ordered them to freeze the merger, but it appears that they have not been fully complying with that order.

The current widespread displeasure with MPD for mismanaging their budget was preceded by years of false claims from mindless police boosters that cops were starved of funding. It gave political cover for shoveling piles of money into a furnace as a proxy for safety.

Eric Prindle @ericprindle.bsky.social · 29/09/2026
True. They probably did all that annexing before "dark store theory" made some lawyers rich and municipalities poor.
010
Eric Prindle @ericprindle.bsky.social · 29/09/2026
Agreed, but the exclave factor is also appealing. We could also do like Houston and start annexing random suburban Walmarts for the property taxes.

Eric Prindle @ericprindle.bsky.social · 29/09/2026
We could use a good exclave. The closest we have are those two little clusters of houses near the Air Force base, but they are not really exclaves.

Many people who were critical of MPD cost overruns were denounced as alarmist or anti-police. Now MPD has admitted to the abuse of overtime hours. I am grateful current leadership is cracking down but deeply frustrated by this betrayal of the public trust and the time it took to get answers.

Weird, the Minneapolis City Council was right. I feel like the Frey administration was singing a different tune that their All of Mpls lackeys were amplifying, but mayor Isn‘t pit on the spot here. That’s only for progressive electeds. www.startribune.com/minneapolis-... (gift link)

Interim Minneapolis police chief says he inherited a budget ‘mess’
Police leaders acknowledged during a City Council budget meeting that overtime was handed out too loosely in years past and said they’re now monitoring it more closely.

Makes sense to me! Also, a lot of people won't feel safe walking from this station to places like Dunwoody or Animales (both objectively nearby) when the immediate vicinity feels so empty.

To be fair, the impound lot is a place that people frequently need to get to without a car. But I would certainly rather they had built this line through the most densely populated part of the city.

I have witnessed someone being ruled out for doing a Teams interview with a sloppily made bed behind them. Someone I know sends an underling out to look inside interviwees' cars to see if they're messy. People who hire people have all kinds of weird prejudices!

Eric Prindle @ericprindle.bsky.social · 25/09/2026
People should know this stuff. Like, if you're masc-presenting and wear a suit, 50% of hiring managers will make some comment implying that they don't see many suits these days, but if you don't wear one, 10% will cross your name out right then and there.

He's so full of shit. When you have unexpected expenses in January (never mind the validity of those expenses), that gives you plenty of time to cancel or delay the planned purchase of expensive vehicles later in the year. That's how budgetary controls work!

Yeah; it's just a bad look when it seems like specific businesses are getting a sweetheart deal. Honestly I think the Alma cutout would not be terrible if it included all the buildings facing University and not just one single property.

MPD Overtime: Study and manage law enforcement overtime costs, don't just budget for them. MPD overspent its 2025 budget by $20 million. I ask that MPD present its overtime review on September 28, and the Mayor file an overtime management plan before markup on December 10. 6/7
Purple graphic labeled Letter, to the Minneapolis Board of Estimate and Taxation, dated September 22, 2026. Headline: "My four specific asks," with "four" highlighted in green. Four white rows, each with a date and topic. September 23, Parks: set the Park Board's maximum levy at its full 5.86% request; 40-plus residents testified for parks at the BET's hearing, and the $3.1 million gap from the 2.5% placeholder equals 26 positions and full recreation center hours. October 14, TIF: present numerical analysis on how Minneapolis TIF decisions affect all local levies; captured value is subtracted from the taxable base that Minneapolis Public Schools, the City, and Hennepin County all levy against, so every dollar captured raises the rate paid by everyone else. October, Shelter: prioritize a larger, ongoing contribution from the City levy toward shelter and homelessness response; in 2025, City property taxes provided $400,000 for street outreach and $0 in ongoing funding for shelter operations, and County property taxes provided $14.4 million for the homeless crisis response system. September 28 and December 10, Overtime: study and manage law enforcement overtime costs, don't just budget for them; I ask that MPD present its overtime review on September 28, and that the Mayor file an overtime management plan before markup on December 10. Essentially yes. If you sue a city elected official in their official capacity, you are really suing the city. The Park Board (which is part of the city, but with some special powers) is a weird exception.

Hypothetically. Taxpayers in Minnesota can sue over misuse of public funds, but that can only be stretched so far.

If a charter amendment is proposed by a council supermajority or adequate citizen petition, the Charter Commission and/or mayor can slow things down but can't block it. That's why we voted on police reform in 2021 rather than 2020.
