This is your regular reminder that only about 20% of California's water use is for urban uses; of that 20%, something like 30 to 40% is for lawns and pools; and people living in dense cities use much less water than people in suburban mcmansions

Unpopular opinion: people who take buses deserve places to sit, and until we start forcing drivers to let homeless people sleep in their back seats, bus riders (who are also often low income) shouldn't be treated as second class citizens who are expected to bear the full brunt of bad housing policy

Notice CalMatters' clever sleight of hand with this headline. They don't say "Tech CEOs" or "Silicon Valley elite," they say Silicon Valley and use the word "it," thereby subtly misleading readers into a framing where Democrats are losing Silicon Valley workers or as a region, which is very wrong

I constantly exhort people not to use weather apps that don't simply replicate the NWS forecast If you want a forecast that has been curated by a human, often with years or decades of experience to let them know when to second-guess a zany model output, then just use NWS and push for more funding!
