My new philosophy is if they’re a good player over a season or more and they’re fantasy points are crap then they’re due to have a good game so I start them bc I DONT KNOW EITHER, haha. Worked for starting Maye and Strange this week

As someone who watched EVERY Union game this year, it is so nice to see super smart soccer people to keep saying this publicly. A good Union team playing terrible soccer and a 16 year old was their best player when he played. He overcame and rose above the crappy tactics

000

Eric @ericgrote.bsky.social · 05/10/2026

That’s fair. McKennie can cover a lot more ground against top teams but Berhalter has really impressed me over the last couple of years

I am currently asking AI how much I’ll save by switching to a heat pump because math is hard and it’s tough to get straight answers from people.

Remember when the Union played in Mexico and Cavan was the best player in the field and Carnell subbed him off for no reason?

Haha. Not sure how he’s not #1 at this point

I still don’t understand why that Union half went to 52 min. Maybe 2-3 min of injury time. I don’t think it was explained on the broadcast?

One way to grow the league and make more money: ease salary restraints and sign better players, which creates faster, better soccer to watch. Owners way is to create more games but keep salary restraints so they don’t have to spend more but instead sells more games for slightly more money

000

Eric @ericgrote.bsky.social · 21/08/2026

Exactly. We all hate it, pass it on

This literally makes the games matter less. Rich guys running leagues are really really not good at their jobs.

000

Eric @ericgrote.bsky.social · 20/08/2026

I’m the biggest sicko I know and even this is confusing and too much for me. YOU ARE NOT GROWING THE LEAGUE BY DOING THIS.

000

Eric @ericgrote.bsky.social · 20/08/2026

This is freaking terrible. Make it simple, exclusive, make it matter.

He’s been the best player on the Union since April (I’ve sadly seen every game), and he keeps getting better. Came into the season looking a little bigger and stronger, it’s been fun!

140

Eric @ericgrote.bsky.social · 17/08/2026

But what if we spent more and killed more so we could say we weren’t “communist”?

It’s a hard system to play when you don’t play together bc so much of it depends on pressuring as a team without the ball. Just saying, if they played a 4-3-3 possession style at least you see guys play with the ball at their feet

The arguments trotted out against leaving fossil fuels in the ground are strikingly similar to the arguments trotted out against ending the slave trade, 230 years ago. 1. If we stop trading slaves / extracting fossil fuels, Britain’s economy will collapse 🧵
