Should post-secondary education be considered a public good? An educated population drives innovation, grows the tax base and sustains a democratic society, yet the sector in BC is facing its worst crisis in history. Our latest:

Sort of insane fact about how broken US urban planning is—America now spends more building *just the lights for roads and highways* than on all subways & ground mass transit combined Spending on roadway *pavement* is 18x transit spending

What 3 cities do u feel most connected to for whatever reason? Explain your answer. Mine are Vancouver for obvious reasons, and Montreal because it originally defined a city for me & in some key ways still does (French Canadian family on mom’s side). 3rd? Thats tough. New York, Paris or Barcelona.

I've heard people make claims that AI would lead to a new Renaissance, but I didn't imagine it'd happen like this:
Screenshot of a Tweet from Pope Leo XIV. It reads:

"In this era of artificial intelligence, it is becoming urgen to distinguish human art from what machines produce. There is an ontological difference, even before an aesthetic one, between art and what a machine can generate through statistical calculation based on millions of images created by others. Algorithms lack the spark of humanity. For this reason, the Church wishes to renew an alliance with artists and cultural institutions to safeguard our humanity."

Victoria and (Metro) Vancouver, because these are the only cities I have really lived in. And Paris because I have been so inspired by the changes since the 1980s, when I fell in love with even the polluted traffic clogged version. So much nicer now!!

🔥If we use public dollars to electrify all these LNG exports, BC’s climate pollution will still increase by ~13 million tonnes. 🔥When the gas is finally burned overseas, add another ~130 million tonnes of climate pollution.

Fun facts: 🔥Since 2007, BC’s climate pollution has decreased by 2.3 million tonnes. 🔥Approved LNG export projects will increase BC’s climate pollution by 21.2 million tonnes by 2035. 🔥This is ten times more pollution than we’ve managed to cut in nearly 20 years.
Trends in BC's greenhouse gas pollution from 1990 to 2023, with two projected futures. Approved LNG projects will increase BC's emissions by 21.2 million tonnes. If we meet BC's climate targets emissions will decrease by 80%. From 2007 to 2023 BC has only reduced 2 million tonnes of climate pollution.

If you look only at buses from established manufacturers, I think electric buses are reasonably reliable. (Proterra was a scam). E.g The hundreds of New Flyer electric buses in Seattle & Vancouver (conventional trolley, in motion charging & static charging).

This is so wild. He’s making claims of billions in revenue from this pipeline into 2060. I would LOVE to know where he’s getting these numbers from — bc the IEA’s last non-Trump-pressured forecast shows oil demand declining as of 2030. + If it’s as profitable as he claims, our climate is fucked.
