Certainly not quiet where I am today. So of course I’m IDing all the birds I don’t know off the top of my head.

Erica Makes It All @ericamakesitall.bsky.social · 07/07/2026

How about this little cutie I rescued last week? We found a bunch of dead babies in the front yard; the next day I spotted this guy on his own in the back. He was so tiny - nose to tip of tail was the size of my hand. I called an animal rescue for help and it sounds like he’s doing well.

A baby opossum sits in a cardboard box. Its mouth is open because it has been hissing and trying to sound ferocious.

Oh whew. I did flat intarsia once and it about killed me. Final sweater was worth it though. Each year I knit my son a sweater for our family holiday photos and this was his request three years ago.

A knit grey and black hand knit sweater. The sweater has a Star Wars theme. It has lightsabers on the arms and tie fighters across the bodice. The center front is Darth Vader’s mask and the center back is the Death Star.

Finishing two sweaters in a single day?! Who even am I? Time to go start at least five more. @lyricalknits.bsky.social designed the fuchsia sweater. It’s a remake of an old favorite. I’m glad every morning of May and June in SoCal is sweater weather - gives me an excuse to wear it lots.

Erica is wearing a fuchsia hand knit sweater. The sweater has a lace and cable design on the front.

No mention of your most important endorsement?!

On the left side there is a small boy with a piece of pizza on a plate. On the right there is an image of a white board. The writing reads “Jack endorses Katie Porter for Congress. I endorse Katie because she let me eat a crayon.”

My parents have a palm tree in their yarn and a nesting pair returns every year. Last year we had to rescue an owlet that fell to the ground. It was so adorably uncoordinated.

The Irvine PD really does not like it when you take photos like this in front of the stupid cybertruck. Has that stopped me from doing so? Hell no.

The Irvine Police Department’s cybertruck sits in the background while Erica’s hand is in the foreground, middle finger extended.

When I used to lead hikes with the Irvine Ranch Conservancy I keep a printed copy of this in my pack. I also told people to think of them as couch potatoes in the sky - you are more likely to see them gliding on currents than flapping their wings.

8 panel comic. Each panel features a drawing of a turkey vulture and the text reads “I am a turkey vulture. Yes indeed. My head is bare to prevent rotting flesh from adhering to it. To keep cool, I poop on my legs and feet. My main defense is projectile vomiting. I am so awesome.”

We have two and they don't have the slightest bit of attitude. They spend their days snoozing on quilts and taking on neighborhood watch duty. One follows me around the house and jumps in my lap the moment I sit, and at night at least one of them sleeps pressed up against my stomach.

I was quite surprised to show up at my parents house to find this baby owl in a box. They found it on the ground in their yard along with two dead siblings. Luckily we were able to get this guy over to a wildlife rehab place. They report that it is doing quite well.

There's so much power that comes from including kids in protests. This is what I did in 2017, trying to get our previous congressional rep to meet with us. He’s grown up knowing that he can use his voice for good, he’s an expert canvasser, plus he made some amazing friends.

This trip to Aulani has reinforced that I’m much more of a Disneyland person than a Disney vacation person. But the lazy river is absolutely top notch.

Ending 2024 with a new sweater. This is Penny by Tin Can Knits, but I swapped the reverse stockinette for regular stockinette because I'm a hater like that. The yarn came from a friend so I get warm fuzzy feelings inside and out while wearing it.

Erica is wearing a bright pink sweater. The sweater has a v-neck and lacy on the front (and the back, which isn't visible), and the sleeves are in stockinette stitch. Maybe next time she'll remember to brush her hair before taking a photo.
