I think the Segway was for a while when they first came out decades ago. They were going to "revolutionize walking." It failed.

But the article declaring that is not peer reviewed, though, right? The underlying studies are. I mean, we had lots of claims that ivermectin cured COVID, but Fauci wouldn't budge from what peer reviewed studies showed.

Erica @ericadahlphd.bsky.social · 15/08/2026
Yeah peer review. At least 2 anonymous people in your field looking for reasons to "nope" you. And then after you publish a bunch of people design experiments to prove you wrong. If mistakes get published someone will find them eventually.

Oh! Relevant to tox studies! Is it cheating to include outliers in the historical data range? If you don't then the range keeps getting narrower over time, so more studies fail, and that doesn't make sense either.

I don't drive, so when we went to LA we planned around the LA metro. It was wonderful! They've worked so hard in it, but it's not that crowded because nobody seems to use it. I hope people use it more! This is a pic from the Hollywood and Vine station #LAmetro

So this year I mixed in some sand and am trying a sunnier location for rosemary, thyme, oregano. Parsley actually survived the winter in the window box! Planted cilantro seeds in the same box because apparently they are cool weather and do not like being moved. Also added a new mint plant.

Brooklyn garden experiment round 2! Last year was proof of concept. I did manage to grow a few hot chilies, some parsley and rosemary, and for a short while some oregano, mint, thyme, and basil. I think I had soil too wet for the herbs.
