Because I'm a bit of a sore loser, any idea if the fallout from the City investigations will impact their women's team?

Does the name Patty Mills wring a bell? How about Wesley Matthews? De'Andre Hunter?!?!

"Arizona State" and "Arizona" are very different universities and athletic departments in the same way that "Manchester City" and "Manchester United" are different football clubs.

Does this count as completing basketball or does she also have to win Unrivaled

We got a tour of the on campus power plant at Notre Dame as part of intro to engineering. They said that on a football Saturday, ND Stadium was second priority behind various research buildings and ahead of residences, lecture halls, etc. Very curious how that would have worked out in practice.

Eric Bens @eric-bens.bsky.social · 07/08/2026

Off the top of my head I can fill in the rest of the ACC except for SMU. Can also add BYU (at ND) but am planning to do ND @ BYU this season (which is annoyingly the same day as Current @ Royals and will probably overlap).

Also, LIES! We won both Silver and Bronze at the 1904 Olympics! Is this kind of bullshit because only three teams entered and two of them were local teams from St. Louis? Definitely, but this is the kind of silly Olympic history that's right up your alley.

Eric Bens @eric-bens.bsky.social · 20/07/2026

Slight error: France also held the World Cup (1998) and European Championship (2000) at the same time.

When Claire was still in KC, I really wanted her and Temwa to swap numbers.

Bullshit like this is why "establishment democrats" are getting their asses handed to them in primaries. Lindsey Graham was a terrible person who made America and the world a worse place to live. If you can't say that, say nothing.

I feel like .5 xG between the two teams in the last 20 minutes of the half is decent! The problem was the zero xG the first 25.

000

Eric Bens @eric-bens.bsky.social · 11/07/2026

Sure, but weren't all the shots and xG in the "2nd quarter?" Don't think anyone would have anything nice to say about the first 20 minutes, 30-45 were pretty fun.

We're getting an IR for his Almighty Carrots in UCL Qualifying?!?!?

I don't think any of them are no-doubt starters, but I think Tillman, Robinson, McKinnee, and Freeman would would be in contention for a place in Belgium's team.

Thank you for correctly using Missouri Compromise instead of Disgrace of Kansas

Eric Bens @eric-bens.bsky.social · 27/06/2026

I believe it's because they're trying to avoid mid-afternoon kickoffs in outdoor stadiums. Today is a tough one because there's an outdoor stadium in each group (NY/Philly, Miami, KC) hence the late start.

010

Eric Bens @eric-bens.bsky.social · 23/06/2026

Do they want to finish second in group J since that would probably give them Spain in the Ro32 (and they'll know that ahead of time)? Whoever they'd get as a 3rd place team would likely be an easier opponent.

000

Eric Bens @eric-bens.bsky.social · 20/06/2026

I might be wrong, but I think they'd try to jump on anything that breaks through to the mainstream that could be vaguely connected to "rah rah patriotism."

000

Eric Bens @eric-bens.bsky.social · 20/06/2026

I think they'll do the exact same thing if the basketball team(s) wins during the LA Olympics regardedless of how the players on the team feel.

Was thinking about this intro quote again.

“My Dear Lucy: I wrote this story for you, but when I began it I had not realised that girls grow quicker than books. As a result you are already too old for fairy tales, and by the time it is printed and bound you will be older still. But some day you will be old enough to start reading fairy tales again.”

I believe most American leagues have written their bylaws to make things like the Packers Ownership model illegal, but generally think fan/municipal ownership is a much healthier system. An American version of the 50+1 rule would be lovely (and never happen). en.wikipedia.org/wiki/50%2B1_...
