🆕 We recently published a study on how contact behaviour during the COVID-19 pandemic differed by vaccination status or immunity (vaccination + previous infection) status using data from 2 large German studies: #COVIMOD and #MuSPAD. Read more 👉 doi.org/10.1186/s12916-025-04211-x @uni-muenster.de
Forest plot of negative binomial regression model effect estimates displayed as a contact ratios (CRs) for total, household, and non-household contact numbers by vaccination status in the COVIMOD study. CRs for contacts are given with 95% confidence intervals (CI).
Fully vaccinated individuals (i.e. 1 dose of J&J or 2 doses of other vaccines) had 1.28 (CI: 1.22-1.35) times as many total contacts and 1.43 (CI: 1.32-1.56) times as many non-household contacts as unvaccinated individuals.

New publication alert! We looked at how social contact behaviour changed in Germany during the #COVID-19 pandemic using data from the COVIMOD study 👉 doi.org/10.1186/s128... @uni-muenster.de @freieuniversitaet.bsky.social @helmholtzhzi.bsky.social @lshtm.bsky.social @unihalle.bsky.social #EpiSky
Figure showing social contact variation between April 2020 and December 2021 in Germany. (A) The proportion of household and non-household contacts among all contacts; (B) mean number of contacts per person per day; (C) mean cumulative duration of contacts per person per day (in hours) over time.
For comparison, the stringency of the NPIs in Germany over the study period is provided in grey shadow on the right y-axis for B and C. For B and C, the solid line represents the mean number of contacts; the shaded area illustrates the 95% CI obtained using bootstrapping.
