Colossal really are doing wonders proving their concept for de-extinction! Amazing how by simply altering some genes of a similar, related modern species, we can “bring back” individuals with the same characteristics as an extinct species. They’ve created woolly mice in prep for woolly mammoths too!

New paper alert! This study has found that making use of small, molecular heaters, we could improve crop yields! Not only will this boost the amount of food we can produce to sustain our growing population, but it could mean we can use less land and space to do so, leaving more for #nature!

This new study reveals a concerning concept - that the ocean warming in the Southern Ocean could be more damaging to the planet than that in the Arctic. Warming in the Southern Ocean is wreaking havoc on the ice of Antarctica and tropical rainfall - all the more reason to tackle climate change!

As vital as wind farms are - and we certainly need more - putting one on peatland is a rather silly idea. Peat is vital in a springing and storing #carbon from the atmosphere and is key in tackling #climatechange so destroying it to creat wind farms may not be the best… petition away! #nature #act

Another cool paper out recently! This explored the role of sea urchins in habitat creation off New South Wales, Australia. Though finding warming oceans are pushing them out of northern NSW, migrating south and developing warm temperature adaptations could help them mitigate climate change’s impact

This vital new paper has discovered that some #lizard species are adapting (slightly) to #climatechange. Pregnant females are finding ways to ensure their eggs are kept at a safe temperature so a healthy clutch of babies are born, despite this adaptation having adverse impacts on the mother.
