We secured the release of 73 people from ICE detention in September—thanks to your support. They are now returning, or beginning the process of returning, to their families and communities. At least 40 of the people we bonded out had bonds set at $7,500 by ICE officers.

His bond was set at $50,000. Envision covered half, while his friends and family came together to cover the remaining $25,000. He was detained at Buffalo Federal Detention Facility in Batavia, New York.

63 people freed, and $515,000 in bonds paid. Your support made that possible. But there are still more people waiting for a chance to come home.  #EnvisionFreedom #DignityNotDetention #ImmigrantJustice

Wow! After we put out our call last week, we got donations from you! We paid 20 bonds in total last week, and 11 of those were $7,500 bonds set by ICE officers. BUT, 21 more PEOPLE are still waiting in detention right now because they can't pay these bonds.

ICE officers indeed have the authority to make the initial bond/custody determination and set a bond amount for people who they deem eligible for release on bond.

ICE officers are setting bonds at $7,500. In just 2 weeks, we’ve paid 27 of these bonds, and people are being released within days of their arrest. 🚨 This is an emergency. We have an opportunity to free MORE people, quickly—but only if we have the funds to pay their $7,500 bonds

Two weeks ago, the 3rd Circuit ruled that people who are already in the U.S. and are detained in the interior cannot be automatically held without bond under the govt’s interpretation of immigration law. Instead, many are entitled to a bond hearing. We saw the impact immediately.

18 people are going home. 💜 This week, we successfully paid bonds for 18 people who can now return home to their loved ones. But as more people are detained, the need for bond support continues to grow.

On Tuesday and Thursday atternoons, we open a phone line for detained folks to call in. Our hotline call volume went from 140 calls in 2024 to 352 in 2025. This year, we're on pace for more than 500.

Pierre's death is devastating and truly heartbreaking. We honor Pierre, hold his family in the light, and mourn the life he should have had. We must demand an immigration system that does not criminalize, surveil, or strip people of their dignity.

In August alone, we helped free 42 people from ICE detention, paying more than $500,000 in immigration bonds to secure their release. That brings us to 345 people freed from detention so far in 2026—already more than twice the number of people we bonded out in all of 2025.

If you know someone currently detained in any of these ICE facilities, you should know that the law provides a 90-day period after August 25th for the ICE unit to wind down operations, so it could take until November to see any of these ICE Units completely shut down.

ICE wants to spend up to $20M on electric shock gloves to subdue people they deem “resistant.” That money could instead bring people home from detention, feed families, provide legal support, help survivors heal, provide interpretation, & keep immigrant families safe & together.

Today, on International Prisoners' Justice Day, we remember the people who have died in immigration detention, in jails, and in prisons and we name, plainly, why they died: because our systems of detention treat human lives as disposable.
