Sometimes I have time, and sometimes I have energy, and I rarely have both at the same time.

I need to actually start selling some of the 3D printed knickknacks I've been making. I've been planning to do it for mooonths. But then again, I've been hoping to release mGBA 0.11.0 "this month" for most of the year...

I'm pretty sure I know who you're talking about too. Looks like a surfer dude trapped in the 90s but is actually a defense contractor?

It's been a few months now and I don't log into Bluesky very often but I think it's safe now to say that the situation with Limited Run Games has been amicably resolved. Once I managed to get in contact with the right people we sorted everything out, so it shouldn't be a problem going forwards.

Can confirm logging out and back in will make the option stay off, do this if it's constantly turning back on!

I am trying to turn this off via the desktop mode site on mobile and it straight up WILL NOT STAY OFF. I turn it off, swap settings tabs, go back, and it's back on. It's actually asinine. The button isn't even available on the mobile app, either. Fuck Twitch, seriously.

note that even if you opt your channel out, your chat messages will still be used to train twitch/amazon's generative AI models if you chat in someone's stream who hasn't opted out. my advice is to be annoying about asking. any streamer who's opted out will be glad to tell you so.
What channel content (clips, chat, metadata, etc.) is eligible to be used for generative AI training?

Your stream and the stream's chat, your VODs, your Clips, Highlights, and any text or images on your Channel may be used. If you chat on someone else's stream, their opt-out preferences govern if that chat can be used for training.

Twitch now uses your channel to train generative AI by default. You can opt out of some training here: www.twitch.tv/settings/sec...
Training for Generative AI

Allow your channel content to train generative AI content models at Amazon. Turning this off does not opt you out of Twitch and Amazon using your channel content for other purposes described in the Twitch Privacy Notice, including using AI-supported Twitch features that benefit the community by facilitating streamer growth and monetization (such as real-time sponsorship campaign assistance), viewer discovery (such as recommendations), and community safety (such as AutoMod). I didn't repaste it at all, mostly because I didn't want to have to fiddle with delicate parts like the die. I haven't run any super intensive benchmarks but it seems to idle at roughly 60° and gets up to about 80°, give or take. This is the case: www.printables.com/model/173791...

It's about the same size as two GameCubes!

endrift @endrift.com · 15/07/2026
Damn, the assembled case I printed for the BC-250 (cut down PS5 board designed for cryptomining but decent at gaming) is really big. Steam Machine for scale.
A photo of two electronics: one is a long case with a chamfered purple design with two big fans on the top and some cables coming out of the front (the BC-250). Next to it is an austere black cube design with a removable front panel and some USB ports on the bottom (the Steam Machine). The cube is slightly taller than the BC-250 but much less long and a bit wider.

Oh, I've been using this for my DS capture card on Linux. I didn't know it worked on Windows too! I know it's meant to be cross-platform, but I didn't even think it might be useful on Windows since that's what the official software is for.

When the game crashes, it's no longer able to select which of the widths it wants per line (as those lists are generated every frame and the graphics hardware needs to be reconfigured every line) so it just goes down the rows normally, resulting in the regular triangle showing through.
120
endrift @endrift.com · 15/07/2026
The way the effect works is that every line it picks a different a different width of pixels to draw for a segment of the boss, so it can draw an amorphous blob shape but the only graphics it needs in RAM are just different widths of pixels, hence why it's stored as a triangle.
120
endrift @endrift.com · 15/07/2026
So yanking the cartridge is just a convenient way to make the game crash--the code the game is running is located on the cartridge itself, so when the cartridge is removed, it stops running game logic. What we see is the leftover game state no longer being updated.

Every time someone uses this feature for anything more than just messing around I'm glad I spent hours upon hours debugging crashes that came up when I added the feature as a joke

uhhhhh I can think of another reason why people would be having to do more search queries than they used to
Google blog post: " As people have realized just how much more Search can do for them, they’re searching more than ever before — so much so that last quarter, we saw queries reach an all-time high."

The Omarchy/Framework thing
I want to state for the record that I love Framework’s products. They are incredibly friendly to Linux, to Free Software, and to the Right to Repair movement. If their stated mission didn’t so closely...

Not with them pushing Omarchy and other fash-aligned tech unapologetically. Not to mention I want a 4K screen, which they don't offer.

It's unconscionable that they'd sell a laptop that cost over $2000 yet is this fundamentally broken. Lenovo fucking owes me.

The screen had horrible issues that looked like backlight leak despite being an OLED. What the fuck! RMAed it and it's still happening, but in a different region of the screen! Shutdown being probabilistic is something I haven't heard of in like 30 years! Even suspend fails to resume sometimes!

endrift @endrift.com · 19/05/2026
I got a new laptop after my old one broke and it's been a constant stream of issues, from things like horrible color issues on the monitor (EVEN AFTER AN RMA), to shutdown straight up not always turning off entirely, to the keyboard straight dying until I rebooted last night.

Squall, for the record, has always been useless and is partially responsible for me deciding not to work on VBA and start mGBA instead. He speaks authoritatively but is so wrong so often.
0250
endrift @endrift.com · 07/05/2026
I have every reason to believe VBA-M is largely vibe coded these days, based on evidence of Squall ramping up posting LLM-generated slop in comments. So I'm going to downgrade it from "not that bad, really" to "slop". mGBA will never be vibe coded, full stop.

I'm pretty sure it has something to do with random changes to alignment improving cache locality but it happens so infrequently that I've never really had a chance to properly inspect it. And if I reload it to try to get something to compare against, I can't go back!

endrift @endrift.com · 30/04/2026
Once every few dozen times I load mGBA on 3DS it runs significantly faster than normal but I've never been able to pin down what's happening. If you've had this happen to you and you're confused and question your memory of it: it's absolutely a thing that happens and you're not imagining it.

endrift @endrift.com · 17/04/2026
Ahhh I love this trick. Demoscene goes all in on it sometimes, but there's even uses of it in racing games on the Game Boy where it used it for drawing the geometry of the upcoming road with faux perspective

It, again, truly doesn't matter whether vibecoding actually caused the outages or not - when you start bragging about how claude is making every engineer on staff more productive and the site goes through months of persistent downtime, that's a Statement.
