my totally remote job goes to 4 in office one wfm 1.2027. got my paperwork, and was told "congrats! We approved: putting you in a corner with a sit/stand desk, noise cancelling headphones and visual queues for focus time." They still expect me in 4days/wk. I am really struggling. My husband is in recovery and a trump supporter. He's an exvangelical and his best friend and I really believe when he quit drinking am radio became the new addiction... he admitted he's been using gas station kratom. It's too expensive to leave and I'm just so lonely.

Our local fire department has an open house every year. They sell awesome merch, build community, teach fire safety, let kids (and grown ups) climb in/on fire trucks, have food trucks and this year, they had a blood donation truck. Prior years they had the sheriff's dept, but not this year! 10/10⭐

LLMs impress the writers who do not want to write, the coders who don't want to code, the researchers who don't want to research, and the lawyers that don't want to actually understand case law. Those that desperately tell you how powerful Al is and that you simply must use it are looking for you to validate their own laziness or distaste for effort, and those who are impressed with LLMs' outputs tend to be people with low standards.

Talked to a dad of a kid in my son's class. he didn't want his wife to take his last name because he didn't want her to be judged by a Hispanic last name. He asked the school what they'd do to protect his brown kids if ICE showed up. Extra glad I had already asked if the school had an ICE plan.

Guess I have to go speak to the school board... My eldest's class has gone through 3 teachers in 2 years, just losing another who didn't even make it through the semester. Notified via email, principal and superintendent say parent meeting will not happen. This won't end well for them.

My kiddo had a snow day (remote learning) today. They called it yesterday evening since the forecast called for a blizzard. Snow didn't even stick, it's 39*F and super sunny. I'm pretty sure this is what we have to look forward to with NOAA not having any folks left to get better forecasts...
