Jan Tregeagle was a Cornishman so vile that when his ghost was accidentally summoned back to the land of the living, the locals decided to handle his eternal punishment themselves. This is my retelling of one of Cornwall's notorious folktales. #Cornwall emmacoxcreates.substack.com/p/to-roar-li...

On the 25th Anniversary of 9/11, the community of Hayle, Cornwall came together to celebrate and mourn the victims, including one of their own. Rick Rescorla saved over 2700 lives that day. “America has lost a man, but Cornwall lost a son.” emmacoxcreates.substack.com/p/rick-resco...

There are few arts as ancient as the role of the storyteller. Words committed to memory for the purpose of keeping the old tales alive, to educate and, of course, to entertain. In Cornwall, these people are called the droll tellers. #Cornwall #Folklore emmacoxcreates.substack.com/p/cornwalls-...

I've had fun researching Cornwall's old droll tellers. The whole point of droll telling was to embellish the original tale to suit the audience and give it your own personal slant. If you didn't spend an hour explaining in detail what the giant's castle looked like, you were doing it wrong. #writing

All the money hoarders were supercilious bastards. However, big tech didn’t bring them youth or immortality. But it did bring the End Times. Once they sealed themselves inside their bunkers, it took them on average 72 seconds to realise the plebs entombed to attend them had other plans. #vss365

#SundayLit Prompt: Colour
The wardresses at the Bearfort jail were a cynical and hard-bitten lot, who thought they had seen and heard everything, and they treated Jackie’s cries of distress with initial contempt. Anyone might feign illness, to try and get a softer bed in the infirmary. A quick look through the spyhole, however, had changed their minds quite quickly. Even they had never seen so much vomit come from one person, and never any that was such a virulent shade of green.
