I saw that people are using Claude to make animusic-type videos and it made me so sad. The original animusics took YEARS of human creativity and skill to make, and AI just steals all that and vomits up some slop in minutes. I don’t want to watch that.

Thinking about Cornell and frats and how when I was a student we did an orchestra tour to MIT and went to a party at a frat house. For us Brits it was like stepping into a movie, but we also immediately clocked that the drinks we were being given were extremely strong.

As I was playing in last night’s orchestra concert, I realised that I was going to have to spend my fee on new strings. I feel like there should be a German word for that feeling.

Almost home after big orchestra concert. Was very gratifying to hear an audible “wow!” from the audience at the end of Ethel Smyth’s The Wreckers overture ☺️ it’s a very wow piece!

It’s been said a million times but saying Suno solved music is like saying you’ve solved soccer by installing a conveyor belt that delivers the ball directly to the net and expecting people to buy tickets

So this is done and will post later today, but I thought I’d share all the wonderful ways Instagram auto subtitles tried to cope with ‘cor anglais’: Cor ombré Coronga Or Chorus Choreo Coromble Corongay Chorongly 😏

After several hours of messing round in reels, I think I now know enough to actually make a functioning one. The only thing is, how do I stop hating the look of my own face and the sound of my own voice?

Bizarre things that happened in your assembly: in primary school one Easter a vicar ate a daffodil flower and told us no one would believe us if we told anyone, just like no one believed Mary Magdalene when she told them Jesus had risen. Genius.

being so fr when I say that transmisogyny has put feminism back like 50 years

seravph
what i thought we had distanced ourselves from was the reduction of women to vaginas and wombs and the ability to bear children. i thought we had progressed past 'dresses are for women and pants are for men. i thought we progressed past the idea that someone is less of a woman if she does not adhere strictly to beauty standards. i thought we progressed past the idea that naturally being comfortable adhering to highly feminine standards is vulgar. but i (sarcastically) guess no one could have predicted that trans-exclusive feminism would be the downfall of all the progress we've made

I've got a new phone which actually has enough memory to record videos, so now I'm working out how to make a little nerdy instagram reel series on identifying orchestral instruments, and their common uses in film music... Which will probably be watched by about 4 people.

The loss of life here is almost incomprehensible - as a result of European diseases and state-sanctioned violence and murder. We learn nothing about this in the British education system.

I wonder how the big climate philanthropists will respond to the Reform donations? If you think money makes a difference in elections, then the chances of the UK electing a climate denialist government that would torch world-leading decarbonisation efforts just drastically increased.

I've had my Samsung for a VERY long time and it no longer updates (hasn't for a while)... I'm constantly pushing up against the 32GB memory limit and can't download any new apps. I already have a mac and an ipad - should I get a second hand iphone? 😬 Any recommendations?

Bristol Central Constituents! I want to take your renting experiences to the Prime Minister. Today I’ve launched the Bristol Central Renters’ Survey to get hard data on the reality of renting in our city. Use the link below to make your voice heard… forms.gle/q7QTeYrmNexG...
The image has a picture of Carla on the right-hand side with the Clifton Suspension Bridge in the background. Superimposed on the image is a clipboard that reads 'Bristol Central Renters Survey 2026'. At the bottom of the image, it says "I want to hear from you" This image is predominantly a large clipboard graphic that reads:

"If you:
> Live in Bristol Central
> Rent Privately
> Have 5 minutes to spare

Then I want to hear from you.

Please fill out my short survey so I can take your experience of renting to the Prime Minister.

Just saw what looked like a very cool opportunity - a fellowship where you spend 8 months researching the work of female composers. But looks like they expect 8 hours commitment a week, and the honorarium works out at just over $5/hr 😢 Am I crazy to think that's... not good?

About 15 years ago I bought a BAM cello case for quite a bit of money. It's still going strong, but the squishy part on the handle was perishing and coming away. I emailed BAM about it, and they replied asking for my address and are sending a free replacement! Now that's customer service. 🤩
