Do not speak to me or my ancient Syrian son ever again
A screenshot of a auction site that sells historical artifacts. The page is for a “marble eye idol“ from Tell Brak, a city in ancient Syria. The idol is a flat piece that is composed of one figure with a head composed entirely of its eyes, so it ends up being sort of a figure 8 with eyes on it as the head, and then below it is another figure identical to it, but smaller as if it’s a child standing in front of a parent.

It ys tyme for Tulip skeptics to face some difficulte trouthes. Tulips are the waye of the future. Yf you do not invest yn Tulips you are way behinde. Yf you do not teache your children about Tulips thei will not be able to compete on the jobbe market. Onlye Luddites dislyke Tulips.

Reading a romance published a few years ago that's really trying to do an ethical billionaire, but as of 2026 I just can't. I will suspend a *lot* of belief in my romance reading but there are limits.

For your convenience, the Pride and Prejudice live-posting super-thread 📚
A drawing of Elizabeth Bennet, a lovely young woman with her long hair tied up nearly under a ribbon and wearing what is most likely a neo-classically inspired dress, looking pensive, two letters in her hand. Meanwhile Darcy, a handsome but stern-looking fellow, looks longingly at her. Also there is me, a little gremlin in big round glasses, skulking about in the background and hoping that they kiss.

The accompanying text reads “Trung reads Pride and Prejudice for the first time, somehow.”

Not a galley brag, I guess, since it’s my own ms, but @gavingrant.bsky.social printed me a reading copy of Unicorn House so I can go through & mark it up for revision. And Paradise Copies is making us more 3 Zombie Stories to carry at Book Moon.
An uncorrected ARE of Unicorn House (cover is a public domain image of a woman with curly flowing hair and a small happy looking unicorn at her feet) & a red chapbook on a tapestry fabric. The ARE of Unicorn House again beside a red zombie chapbook on the seat of a green leafed tapestry-upholstered couch.

I’m excited to share a preview of “A Minor Footnote,” a gothic horror story about Sephiroth in the secret basement library of the Shinra Manor prior to the Nibelheim incident. 🔥 This story appears in @gloriosazine.bsky.social, which is open for preorders here: gloriosazine.bigcartel.com
A promo graphic for the Final Fantasy VII zine Gloriosa featuring the opening passage of “A Minor Footnote,” a gothic horror story about Sephiroth in the basement library of the Shinra Manor prior to the Nibelheim incident. The text reads:

The basement of the Shinra Manor was colder than the mountain wind outside. Sephiroth, who had long ago learned to tolerate discomfort, barely noticed the chill. He turned another page.

The folio in his hands contained a fragmentary report on the Cetra, a legendary lost civilization said to be inhumanly proficient in guiding the energy of the lifestream. The label on the cardboard cover proclaimed the folio to be Project Compilation Record #VII-B: Subjects and Successors. The ink of the typed pages had faded to a dull brown, but it was still legible.

“‘The Ancients heard the voice of the Planet in dreams,’” Sephiroth muttered as he read. “‘They sang what they saw, and this harmony guided their actions.’”

The most mysterious thing about writing to me is paragraphs. I produce them fairly reliably, but without thinking about them. When I do think about them, when not writing, I feel as if I'm on the edge of a terrible chasm full of secret knowledge.
