He removes his glasses, careful not to strain the chain as he holds them in one hand and polishes the lenses with his tan shirt. The tension at the corners of his eyes relaxes as he cleans, and Nathan watches the simple calm on his face.
Seeing Lawrence without his glasses is as rare as a lightning strike, and just as stunning. It must be unsettling, frightening, to give up that boon to his vision, but Nathan relishes these moments he can selfishly fancy himself a confidant of Lawrence’s utmost trust. Not just through the physical ease on his face—the implicit trust, the fact he’s comfortable enough to be in such a state with Nathan.
Or perhaps he just needs to clear a smudge.
