Let me tell you a little bit about Alaa. I talk to her regularly, on here and in the DMs. She constantly has extremely wise and well-stated opinions on things and sees with a rare clarity and genuineness. I don't think you should have to do that to get support, but I really appreciate her.

About a month ago, Alaa met her goal on GoFundMe-- and then they pulled the ground out from under her. The GoFundMe was cancelled and the pledges were returned. This is, unfortunately, something that happens to Palestinians on a regular basis; her account is genuine.

We also see it with faculty, even those who are part of all of these orgs on campuses, who seem only to see 'their' students or 'their' colleagues as worthy of material support because they see these ppl as extensions of themselves. maybe interrogate why this is. protestors reject this separation.

We’ve seen this same trend before, a year ago during the student encampments, when American liberal parents were more than happy to lavish the Columbia encampments with food and supplies and money but evidently had nothing to spare for the very ppl the students were fighting for.
