I felt the same, sadness but relief too. Everything that happened in the lead up to the free Busan concert confirmed that exemption was a poisoned chalice.

Text translation of what Namjoon said at Lima D2. Translation 🔗 x.com/jungkook97_2...

🐨 Peruvians! You are truly the best.

🐨 I'm going to talk about the post I wrote yesterday, and I'll speak in Korean.

🐨 The post I wrote yesterday wasn't just about America or Peru. Similar things have happened in Europe and the United States, and they've actually been happening for a long time. They can happen in Asia, too.

🐨 I know very well that many of you try not to approach us, and even when you see us on the street, you pretend not to recognize us.

🐨 But using drones or pointing lasers at us is actually not okay.
In Europe, he (Taehyung) was the one who said it, but here, I'll say it myself.

🐨 When have we ever divided people based on their nationality or continent?

🐨 Under the term ARMY, and under the term BTS, we are all the same people.

🐨 I'd like you to ignore those who say strange things and for us to keep this love alive.

🐨 Some people will only hear what they want to hear and see what they want to see.

🐨 But I will continue to believe that there are so many more amazing and lovely ARMYs out there. And that goes for Peru, too!

🐨 No matter how I speak about this, I know some people will only hear what they want to hear.

🐨 Even so, I know there are so many wonderful and very, very beautiful ARMYs out there.

🐨 Thank you so much

Someone in Peru actually did their job. René Gastelumendi Luna, a journalist, was doing some research for articles about "ARMY hysteria" but he met BTS instead. Trans : @\BTSDailyChile 🔗 www.facebook.com/share/19kfSu...

"BTS Made Me Eat My Words"

I was wrong. I let my own generational biases get the better of me.

For many of us watching the BTS phenomenon from the outside, whether for work or out of sheer curiosity, these young Korean men seemed like nothing more than a manufactured product. Seven young Asian men dancing in perfect sync in front of hundreds of thousands of screaming fans.

It's the kind of easy prejudice that comes from thinking you understand something you actually don't know a damn thing about. You dismiss it with comments like, "It's all marketing, some kind of black magic. They're plastic dolls, cute little guys singing catchy songs, like Menudo or New Kids on the Block, but Asian."

Life is full of surprises.

When I started doing some research so I'd have something to say about the reports of hysteria, excitement, and everything else I was supposed to cover from the studio, I got a reality check. A well-deserved one.

I barely scratched the surface before realizing I hadn't understood a thing. I was just an older guy completely out of touch with the subject.

Today, these guys are between 29 and 33 years old, and behind the overwhelming popularity lies a conceptual and sociological depth that much of Western pop music abandoned decades ago.

Let's break it down.

Pure, unadulterated philosophy

They don't settle for manufactured love songs. They've built entire albums around Carl Jung's psychoanalytic theories. Yes, Carl Jung!

They explore the human mind, breaking down the Persona (the social mask we wear to fit in or gain approval on social media), the Shadow (our repressed fears, guilt, and darker sides), and the Ego.

In other works, they draw directly from Hermann Hesse and his novel Demian to portray the harsh realities of growing up: understanding that maturity isn't a smooth or forgiving journey, but one that requires breaking out of your shell and confronting your own contradictions.

That's what their lyrics are about!

Their music also delivers direct social criticism.

From their earliest songs, they've confronted systemic inequality, the suffocating pressures of the Asian education system, the job insecurity facing their generation, and the relentless expectation to perform like machines.

They've also challenged one of the biggest taboos in their society: mental health. They've spoken openly about depression, panic attacks, and the emptiness of feeling like you don't fit into the expectations imposed by older generations.

I can see that happening sometime in the far future when the spotlight is a little less bright. Maybe in their legacy era when it's just us, them and concerts. No locals, no press.

There's a bangtan episode where yoongi says “it’s hard being a fan of a kpop idol and being always criticized, honestly it is not easy to do the things they do only because you like someone”. I think they see a lot and this has always felt like a small acknowledgement of sorts.
